The Internet can be configured to provide communications to a large number of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. Devices can be designed to address the need for network layers, from central servers, through gateways, down to edge devices, to grow unhindered, to discover and make accessible connected resources, and to support the ability to hide and compartmentalize connected resources. Network protocols can be part of the fabric supporting human accessible services that operate regardless of location, time, or space. Innovations can include service delivery and associated infrastructure, such as hardware and software. Services may be provided in accordance with specified Quality of Service (QoS) terms. The use of IoT devices and networks can be included in a heterogeneous network of connectivity including wired and wireless technologies.

Internet of things

An Internet of Things (IoT) network includes an orchestrator to issue service management requests, a service coordinator to identify components to participate in the service, and a component to perform a network service element. An IoT network includes an IoT device with service enumerator, contract enumerator, and join contract function. Service provision to IoT devices

A method and apparatus for monitoring an internet-of-things (IoT) battery device (IBD). An example IBD includes a radio transceiver to communicate with an IoT charging device (ICD), a battery, and a battery monitor to determine a state of charge for the battery. An alerter is included to send an alert message to the ICD, via the radio transceiver, to indicate that the SoCh is less than an alert threshold.

A split structure design for an internet of things (IoT) device including a control IoT device (CID) and a sensor IoT device (SID). An example of an apparatus provides a CID including a power transmitter to power a SID through a barrier and a control data transceiver to communicate with the SID through the barrier. The CID includes a power adjustor to increase a power transmission to the SID in steps, and an intermodule communicator to determine if communications have been established with the sensor IoT, and, if not, instruct the power adjustor to increase the power transmission to the SID by a step.

Orchestration and/or management of services on deployed computing, electronic, appliance and like devices are described. A service orchestration and/or management system ('SOMS') may be configured to provide for orchestration and/or management of services to one or more deployed devices. The SOMS may obtain information from deployed devices, such as status, capabilities and service metadata. The SOMS may then encapsulate and store the obtained information for later use. The SOMS may also store service information, facilitate creation of services based on stored service definition meta-data, modeling or simulating a service prior to deployment, and deployment of a service to remotely deployed devices followed by activation to begin operation of the service. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

Orchestration and management of services to deployed devices

Technologies for a fabric acoustic sensor are disclosed. The fabric acoustic sensor includes a conductive thread and a non-conductive thread, which form a diaphragm that vibrates in response to a sound wave. As a result of the vibration, the conductive thread stretches, and a resistance of the conductive thread varies. The change in resistance is measured by a compute device, and the compute device may determine the sound wave based on the change in resistance. In some embodiments, the fabric acoustic sensor may be used to monitor a heart rate, locate an object, and/or provide an input for noise cancellation.

Technologies for a fabric acoustic sensor

A system and related methods for powering a device module of IoT device with an energy harvesting module. A supercapacitor is charged by the energy harvesting module and discharged to the device module to power the device module. The discharge from the supercapacitor may be scheduled to power demanding tasks to provide sufficient recharging periods for the supercapacitor and avoid discharging the supercapacitor when the supercapacitor is insufficiently charged.

Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a kinematic sensor may be carried by or on one or more body segments of a user to obtain one or more kinematic variables based at least in part on movement of the user with respect to a fixed, global reference system. The kinematic sensor comprises a tri-axial accelerometer sensor, a gyroscope sensor, and a magnetometer sensor to define the global reference system and to obtain kinematic data. The kinematic data may be transmitted via a wireless link to a remote information handling system or device, for example to monitor a health status of the user based at least in part on movement of the user with respect to the fixed, global reference system.
