Systems and methods presented herein enable the automation of perforation gun deployment to a downhole location in a well at an oilfield. For example, at least one perforation gun may be deployed into the well with a conveyance line coupled to a head of a downhole tool string that includes the at least one perforation gun, and advanced with pump assistance from at least one pump unit at the oilfield. Deployment of the at least one perforation gun may be adjusted by a coordinated controller in an automated manner based at least in part on monitoring of a pump rate of the at least one pump unit and a tension at a head of the downhole tool string.

Real-time pump-down perforating data acquisition and application automation response

Automation agents are utilized to modify operating characteristics of a client, such as a piece of equipment. An operating characteristic of equipment can be selectively adjusted by modification of a set point value, which is associated with the operating characteristic of the equipment. The equipment can adjust the operating characteristic based upon the set point value. A remote control indication can be provided to indicate when a set point value is available for modification. The remote control indication is adjustable by an execution module associated with the equipment. A set point latch can be provided for indicating when the set point value is modifiable by an automation agent.

A supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) unit and technique for managing communications over a network of defined capacity. The unit and techniques include safeguarding the network while allowing for operations to proceed at an oilfield. Middleware services link multiple data sources to multiple software applications. In one implementation, the middleware receives data requests from different applications, each request including a set of data descriptions that specify which type of data is sought from multiple real-time data sources. The middleware adapts the requests from different types of applications, and the different data available from different real-time data sources, for compatibility with a single common user interface. A user can select which real-time data to map to the common user interface, while each application may request data through a different set of data descriptions. Adapters convert data formats and communication protocols of real-time data from multiple data sources for compatibility with a given requesting application. The adapters can be discovered dynamically without redeploying the middleware, enabling third-party developers to create and initiate the adapters to dynamically connect sources of real-time data to the applications via the middleware.

The system includes a drilling system for advancing a drilling tool into a subterranean formation, a repository storing multiple survey factors for at least one wellsite of the oilfield and multiple drilling factors corresponding to at least one section of a planned trajectory of the at least one wellsite, and a processor and memory storing instructions when executed by the processor. The instructions include functionality to configure a drilling model for each of the at least one wellsite based on the plurality of survey factors and the plurality of drilling factors and selectively adjust the drilling model with respect to a plurality of drilling scenarios to generate an optimal drilling plan.

Oilfield well planning and operation

A method is described for determining an oilfield parameter for a drilling operation in an oilfield, the oilfield having a well site with a drilling tool advanced into a subterranean formation with geological structures and reservoirs therein. A first set of decision factors and a second set of decision factors about the drilling operation are identified. Each of the first set of decision factors is contained within a first set of nodes, and each of the second set of decision factors is contained within a second set of nodes. Both the first set of nodes and the second set of nodes contain a set of common nodes, which are common to both the first and second sets. The first set of nodes is associated to create a first belief network and the second set of nodes is associated to create a second belief network. Then, the set of common nodes of the first belief network is associated with the set of common nodes of the second belief network to form a multinet belief network. Oilfield parameter can be generated from the multinet belief network.

The invention relates to a method for performing a drilling operation at a wellsite having a drilling rig configured to advance a drilling tool into a subsurface. The method steps include obtaining a well trajectory associated with a first volume, obtaining information related to a first subsurface entity associated with a second volume, using a three-dimensional relational comparison to determine that the first volume intersects the second volume to define a first intersection information, updating the well trajectory, based on the first intersection information, to obtain an updated well trajectory, and advancing the drilling tool into the subsurface based on the updated well trajectory.
