There is disclosed a system to assist in parking a vehicle. The system includes an overhead sensor, a controller adapted to receive instructions from a remote device to set an optimum parking position, and wherein the controller is adapted to display one or more guidelines on a display screen in the vehicle to indicate the position of the vehicle in relation to the optimum parking position.

Parking assist apparatus

A motorized window covering switching mechanism is described herein. The switching mechanism includes a deflectable arm and a pull cord. The deflectable arm is connected to a first contact, and the pull cord is connected to the deflectable arm such that, as the pull cord is tugged, the deflectable arm deflects to move the first contact toward a second contact, thereby converting gestures of the pull cord into electrical signals that control a motorized window covering. In some embodiments, cord gestures that deflect the deflectable arm include pull sequences, numbers of pulls, strength of pulls, or combinations thereof. Additionally, in some embodiments, a controller receives the cord gestures and translates the cord gestures into operational commands to control and operate a window covering gearbox assembly.

Pull cord switching mechanism for controlling a window covering

An apparatus is disclosed that includes a battery-powered wireless switch and a switch dock. The switch includes a microcontroller, a short range wireless transmitter, and one or more tactile control buttons. Additionally, the switch includes one or more docking prongs. Each docking prong is contained within a groove in a switch back, with pivot pins through one end of each docking prong perpendicular to a prong longitudinal axis and parallel to the switch back. The switch also includes flexible strips coupled to the same end of each docking prong as the pivot pins, and a prong extender button coupled to the flexible strips. The dock includes one or more docking prong slots, where the number of slots matches the number of prongs. The prongs fit in the slots to mount the switch to the dock.

An apparatus is disclosed that includes a battery-powered switch and a switch dock. The switch includes a microcontroller, a short range wireless transmitter, one or more tactile control buttons, and one or more magnetic prongs. The magnetic prongs are contained within prong slots in a switch body. The prongs are coupled at one end to at least one spring coupled to the switch body, and the spring exerts a retracting force on the prongs when the prongs extend outwards from the switch body. The dock includes one or more metallic holes, where the number of holes matches the number of prongs. The prongs extend from the switch body and fit in the holes when brought near enough to the holes that the holes exert a magnetic force on the prongs that is stronger than the retracting force exerted on the prongs by the spring.

A method for calibrating an automated window covering includes electromechanically actuating a window covering and measuring electrical current required to actuate the window covering. The method further measures movement of the window covering, where such movement includes one or more of a change in position and velocity of the window covering. The method estimates a size (e.g., height, width, area, etc.) of the window covering and/or an amount of force required to actuate the window covering based on the measured electrical current and movement. A corresponding apparatus is also disclosed herein.

Calibration technique for automated window coverings

An apparatus in accordance with the invention includes a directional switching device configured to provide directional control along multiple axes (e.g., perpendicular axes). Directional control along a first axis enables selection of a current function from a plurality of functions. Similarly, directional control along a second axis increases or decreases an amount associated with the current function. In certain embodiments, an indicator, such as colored light, may indicate the current function of the directional switching device. Selection of a first function from the plurality of functions may enable the directional switching device to wirelessly control a first device, while selection of a second function from the plurality of functions may enable the directional switching device to wirelessly control a second device. A corresponding method is also disclosed herein.

Universal multi-function wall switch

A method in accordance with the invention includes prompting a user to align a mobile device with a geometric feature (e.g., a window sill, corner, etc.) of a window. The method further determines a position and orientation of the window using sensors of the mobile device. Based on the position and orientation of the window, the method determines a position of the sun over time relative to the window. The method automatically adjusts a window covering of the window to take into account the position of the sun over time. For example, the method may automatically tilt slats of a window blind or open or close a window covering to take into account the position of the sun over time. A corresponding system is also disclosed herein.

Smart device position and orientation synchronization function

An apparatus in accordance with the invention includes a gearbox assembly configured to electromechanically operate a window covering actuation mechanism. A pull cord is provided to at least one of power the gearbox assembly and charge a battery to power the gearbox assembly. In certain embodiments, manual operation of the pull cord is used to control the gearbox assembly. An electrical conductor and associated electrical connector may be incorporated into the pull cord. A corresponding method is also disclosed herein.

An apparatus in accordance with the invention includes a window covering actuation mechanism and a gearbox assembly configured to electromechanically operate the window covering actuation mechanism. A pull cord is configured to receive 'cord gestures' from a user. These 'cord gestures' may include one or more of pull sequences, pull durations, numbers of pulls, durations between pulls, and strength of pulls. In certain embodiments, &#x201c;cord gestures&#x201d; may also be defined by pull direction. A controller receives the cord gestures and translates the cord gestures into commands for controlling the gearbox assembly. A corresponding method is also disclosed herein.

A downhole induction resistivity assembly comprises a mandrel. Disposed around the mandrel are coils of wire disposed circumferentially around magnetic field concentrators. The coils of wire and the magnetic field concentrators are disposed on an outer diameter of the mandrel. A magnetic field deflector, of magnetic permeability greater than the mandrel, is disposed intermediate the coils and the mandrel.

A downhole induction resistivity assembly that comprises a downhole tool string component. The tool string component comprises an induction transmitter. The transmitter is adapted to induce an induction field in the surrounding formation. A first induction receiver is spaced apart from the transmitter and is adapted to measure the induction field. A magnetic field generating mechanism is disposed circumferentially adjacent the transmitter and adapted to guide the transmitter's signal into the formation.

The transmitter is adapted to induce an induction field in the surrounding formation. A first induction receiver is spaced apart from the transmitter and is adapted to measure the induction field. A magnetic field generating mechanism is disposed adjacent on either or both sides of the transmitter and adapted to guide the transmitter's signal into the formation. A second induction receiver is disposed in close proximity to the magnetic field generating mechanism and is adapted to measure the magnetic field generated by the mechanism.
