A self-contained sewage waste disposal system is provided including a housing structure and a toilet bowl adapted to receive human waste and fluid for diluting the waste, transporting the waste and rinsing the bowl is provided in the housing structure. A removable filter cassette is placed in the housing structure in communication with the toilet bowl. The bowl is adapted to be flushed to dump the contents into the filter cassette and to be subsequently refilled. The coarse and fine particles of solid waste material are separated from the fluid received from the bowl by filter material in the cassette. The solid material is stored in the cassette in a compact manner for subsequent disposal upon removal of the cassette from the housing. A pump and interconnected conduits in the housing transport fluid from the interior of the system to fill the bowl after a flush, to transport filtered fluid from the filter cassette to a position for recirculation, and to transport excess fluid from the interior of the housing to the exterior thereof. The recirculated fluid is sanitized and deodorized in the housing. Controls are provided to pass the fluid through the system to facilitate the collection and disposal of sewage waste within the system in a predetermined sequence.

Self-contained sewage waste disposal system

A prefabricated chimney assembly of the dual-wall type, adapted to be coupled to the flue outlet of a fireplace, is disclosed. The chimney assembly includes an inner conduit extending the length of the chimney assembly to form the flue through which combustion gases flow upwardly, and an outer conduit mounted in spaced relationship to the inner conduit so as to define an annular passage for conducting only outside air downwardly therethrough. An outside-air-inducing means is connected to the open lower end of the chimney assembly and includes a convergent nozzle, the upper end of which is coupled to the lower end of the flue, and an air-turning vane mounted in spaced relationship between the lower end of the chimney assembly and the lower end of the convergent nozzle so that the lower end of the convergent nozzle is positioned within the air-turning vane but spaced therefrom, whereby outside air flowing downwardly through the annular passage is induced into the flue for mixing with the hot combustion gases substantially to cool them and any suspended particulate matter, such as creosote, whereby it remains substantially entrained within the cooled flue gases.

Chimney assembly

This invention is directed to a fireplace heat exchanger and air conducting means arranged and constructed to recover and utilize substantial quantities of heat energy which normally would be expelled to the outside atmosphere via the flue. This assemblage includes a heat exchanger surface which increases the quantity of heat being transferred from the combustion gases of the fuel being burned in the combustion chamber of a fireplace to the air passing through the heat exchanger. The assemblage is capable of being constructed as an insert module assembly for use with an existing fireplace or may be constructed as original equipment in prefabricated and ceramic fireplaces. The heat exchanger surface is formed having an increased surface area greater than the surface area of the rear wall of the combustion chamber and is provided with vertically oriented gas pathways so that a greater quantity of heat energy stored in the flue gases can be transferred from the combustion gases on the one side of the heat exchanger surface to the air to be heated on the other side thereof. The heat exchanger surface is made of a relatively lightweight metallic material in order to offer minimum thermal resistance to the heat flow. An air conducting means having inlet air and outlet air ducts coupled to each side of the heat exchanger module is provided to conduct air to be heated into and away from the heat exchanger. Air control means including a fan mounted in fluid communication with the heat exchanger and air conducting means is provided to regulate and proportion outside and/or room air entering the heat exchanger.
