The disclosure is related to providing interconnectivity between a plurality of user devices. A wireless interconnectivity device connects to a first user device of the plurality of user devices over a first local wireless network, connects to a second user device of the plurality of user devices over a second local wireless network, receives a request from the first user device to transfer data from the first user device to the second user device, determines whether or not a third user device has granted permission to transfer the data from the first user device to the second user device, and transfers the data from the first user device to the second user device based on the third user device having granted permission to transfer the data from the first user device to the second user device.

To ensure that multicasts from access points sent in response to periodic beacons reach a variety of listening clients that may have longer sleep intervals than an interval between beacons, this disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus for multicasting bursts of frames where a burst number is selected so as to be equal to or greater than a range of common sleep intervals. Further, where multicast frames are re-multicast according to known protocols, the repeated bursts can be offset from the re-multicast start time suggested by the protocol, in order to increase a likelihood that clients with especially long sleep intervals receive the multicast frame.

Systems, methodologies, and devices are described that facilitate filtering content sent to a mobile device(s) by a content provider via a core network. A content provider can determine a content rating for content, and/or the core network and/or mobile device can determine or infer a content rating for unrated content from a content provider, based in part on predefined content rating criteria. A mobile device user can specify a desired content rating preference for the mobile device. A filter(s) respectively associated with the core network and/or mobile device can filter the content based in part on the content rating of the content and the content rating preference of the mobile device to which the content is being sent. Content that does not meet a content rating threshold can be filtered out and stored in a secure content folder accessible using a security code or discarded.

A method and system for remote activation of computer based applications uses Simple Message Service (SMS) messages to inform a remote computer that an application should be activated. The SMS message may be sent by a cell phone or from a computer. The remote computer receives the SMS message, parses the message to determine the application to be started, and starts the indicated application. If the remote computer is turned off, the SMS message can be received by an SMS receiver within a modem which can be configured to start the computer so the application can be activated.

On the recipient device end, receiving the contact information also may occur seamlessly, such that the contact information can be automatically stored in the recipient's phone book or, in some aspects, automatically stored in the recipient's phone book based a user setting or response.

Apparatus, methods, processors and machine readable media for verifying the integrity of firmware on a wireless device. Aspects include generating a verification scheme for testing the integrity of firmware on a wireless device and transmitting the verification scheme to the wireless device. The wireless device applies the verification scheme to the firmware and obtains a verification test result, which is forwarded for analysis. An analyzer compares the generated verification test result with a predetermined test result to obtain an integrity determination that indicates the integrity of the firmware. In some aspects, control commands to change an operational characteristic of the wireless device may be generated based on the integrity determination.

Detection and management methods and apparatus for wireless devices may include an executable instruction authorization module operable to scan executable instructions on a wireless device, generate a log indicative of a virus or otherwise unauthorized executable instructions based on a received authorization configuration, and forward the log to a user manager. The user manager may be operable to analyze the log and generate an authorization report which may be viewable by an operator to determine the disposition of unauthorized executable instructions. At least one of the executable instruction authorization module, the user manager, and the operator may be operable to generate a control command operable to delete, or otherwise disable, unauthorized executable instructions on the wireless device, or to restore the executable instructions on the wireless device.

The disclosed embodiments provide for a system and method for storing data in a flash memory device that has a code bank and a data bank. The method includes writing data to the data bank under control of a flash driver in the code bank when sufficient space is expected to exist in the data bank. A device for interconnecting and multiplexing a plurality of interfaces is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, three serial communications ports are interfaced such that any two may be interconnected for communications. A novel circuit comprising a plurality of buffers is employed to allow selection of the interconnection scheme by a controller. The design is scalable and is characterized by low cost, low printed circuit board area requirements, and graceful function. In the preferred embodiment, a PDA, wireless transceiver, and cradle interface of a personal communications device are effectively interconnected and multiplexed.

In this way, the wireless communication device does not appear to the PC to abruptly sever the connection at the USB port upon download completion, which might otherwise cause errors in applications running on the PC.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for allowing a user to conveniently receive an incoming wireless telephone call. After the phone rings once, the receiving party checks his caller ID and realizes he wants to take the call but does not want to disrupt his/her current surroundings. The user receiving the call presses a pre-programmed soft key on the phone. The phone plays a prerecorded message audible only to the calling party. While the message is played, the user has the opportunity to exit a crowded public area or meeting place. The prerecorded message is stored in memory on the phone itself in one embodiment of the invention. In another embodiment of the invention, the memo is stored externally from the phone, within the network infrastructure equipment or perhaps in yet another third party location accessible in real (or near real) time.

Method and apparatus for responding to an incoming call

A QMIP unit receives and stores data information from a first set of modules. The QMIP unit also receives and stores a flow control indication from each module of a first set of modules. The flow control indication is indicative as to whether each module of the first set of modules is capable of receiving data. The QMIP unit creates a frame which carries the data information and the flow control indication corresponding to one of the first set of modules. The QMIP unit forwards the frame over the common data link. At the far end of the data link, the receiving QMIP unit parses the flow control indication and the data information from the frame and forwards the flow control indication and the data information to a destination module. The destination module processes the data according to normal procedures. In addition, the destination module responds to the flow control indication by ceasing the transmission of data to the sending module if so indicated.
