A vaso-occlusive device delivery assembly includes a pusher assembly having proximal and distal ends, a conductive sacrificial link disposed at the distal end of the pusher assembly, and a vaso-occlusive device secured to the pusher assembly by the sacrificial link. The pusher assembly includes first and second conductors extending between the proximal and distal ends thereof. The sacrificial link is electrically coupled between the first and second conductors, such that the first conductor, sacrificial link and second conductor form an electrical circuit, and, when a disintegration current is applied through the sacrificial link through the first and second conductors, the sacrificial link thermally disintegrates, thereby releasing the attachment member and vaso-occlusive device from the pusher assembly.

Vaso-occlusive device delivery system

An embolic device for placement in a body lumen, includes: a first segment having a first linear configuration when located inside a catheter, the first segment being configured to form a first three-dimensional structure when outside the catheter, wherein the first three-dimensional structure defines a cavity; and a second segment extending from the first segment, the second segment having a second linear configuration when located inside the catheter, the second segment being configured to form a second three-dimensional structure when outside the catheter; wherein the cavity of the first three-dimensional structure is configured to accommodate at least a majority of the second three-dimensional structure.

Embolic devices for occluding body lumens

A vaso-occlusive coil formed of a wire having a primary configuration in a constrained condition. The coil assumes a secondary configuration in a relaxed, unconstrained condition. The secondary configuration comprises a primary portion comprising a plurality of primary loops, including a distal-most primary loop. A distal anchoring loop is connected to the distal end of the distal-most primary loop. The distal anchoring loop has a substantially triangular shape and is much smaller than the distal-most primary loop. The distal anchoring loop prevents herniation of the device during deployment and retention within an anatomical cavity.

Vaso-occlusive devices and methods for making and using same

Disclosed herein are detachment mechanisms for vaso-occlusive devices that allow for rapid operator-controlled release of the vaso-occlusive device into the selected site. Also disclosed are vaso-occlusive assemblies comprising these detachment mechanisms and methods of using these detachment mechanisms and vaso-occlusive assemblies.

Detachment mechanisms for implantable devices

Described herein are composite detachment mechanisms for implantable devices and assemblies comprising these devices. Also provided are methods of using the detachment mechanisms and assemblies.

Composite detachment mechanisms

A device for delivering an occlusive element includes an elongate sheath having a lumen therein. An elongate core member is disposed within the lumen and is formed from a proximal portion and distal portion connected via a joint. The distal portion of the elongate member includes a severable junction secured to the occlusive element. A marker coil is coaxially arranged around the distal portion of the elongate core member and is partially disposed inside the sheath lumen. A coil member is coaxially arranged around the distal portion of the elongate core member and coaxially arranged around at least a portion of the marker coil extending outside the lumen of the sheath. The coil member is secured at a distal end thereof to the distal portion of the elongate core member. The device resists axial compression while allowing for radial bending.

Vaso-occlusive delivery device with kink resistant, flexible distal end

A vaso-occlusive device delivery assembly includes a pusher assembly having a proximal end, a distal end, and a pusher lumen extending therebetween; a vaso-occlusive device; and a tubular member mechanically connecting the pusher assembly to the vaso-occlusive device, the tubular member having a proximal end, a distal end, a tube lumen extending therebetween, and a detach zone, wherein the proximal end of the tubular member extends into the pusher assembly lumen at the distal end of the pusher assembly. A heat generating member is disposed in the tube lumen, such that, when activated, the heat generating member generates heat that melts or otherwise thermally degrades the tubular member at the detach zone, thereby detaching the vaso-occlusive device from the pusher assembly.

This is a device for occluding a space within the body. In particular, the device comprises a proximal portion having a complex, three-dimensional shape and a distal portion, where the diameter of the shape defined by the distal portion is smaller than the diameter of the shape defined by the proximal portion. The devices may be placed in a desired site within a mammal and are useful in occluding devices.

Vaso-occlusive devices comprising complex-shape proximal portion and smaller diameter distal portion

An implant assembly comprises an elongated pusher member, and an implantable device (e.g., a vaso-occlusive device) mounted to the distal end of the pusher member. The implant assembly further comprises an electrolytically severable joint disposed on the pusher member, wherein the implantable device detaches from the pusher member when the severable joint is severed, and a return electrode carried by the distal end of the pusher member (e.g., a coil disposed about the pusher member) in proximity to, but electrically isolated from, the severable joint. The implant assembly further comprises a terminal carried by the proximal end of the pusher member in electrical communication with the severable joint.

Expandable body cavity liner device

A vaso-occlusive implant has a primary helical-coil shape that defines a primary axis and a three-dimensional secondary shape. The secondary shape includes a substantially helical section and a second section having a plurality of non-overlapping loops or loop sections. Each loop defines a plane that is oriented at an angle from about 30-150 degrees relative to a plane defined by an immediately preceding or immediately succeeding loop along the primary axis. The coil sections or loops can be generally circular loops or other smooth shapes.
