A method of treatment of wood ash residue. A first step involves wetting the wood ash residue. A second step involves reacting the wetted wood ash residue with carbon dioxide gas. Mineral oxides and hydroxides are converted to carbonates, thereby reducing the caustic nature of the wood ash residue. A third step involves continuing to react the wetted wood ash residue until the resulting ash residue is substantially carbonated.

Method of treatment of wood ash residue

The within invention is directed at a composite material comprising a product of a combination of materials. The combination of materials comprises an organic filler comprised of cellulosic material, a thermoplastic polymer having a melt temperature of less than the char temperature of the organic filler and a coupling agent comprised of at least one fatty acid having at least 16 carbon atoms and at least one rosin acid having at least 16 carbon atoms. The within invention is further directed at a process for producing the composite material comprising the step of combining the organic filler, the thermoplastic polymer and the coupling agent at a temperature of greater than or equal to the melt temperature of the thermoplastic polymer and less than the char temperature of the organic filler.

Process for the production of composites of co-mingled thermoset resin

The invention is directed at a composite material comprising a product of a combination of materials. The combination of materials comprises an inorganic filler comprised of ceramic cenospheres, a thermoplastic polymer and a coupling agent comprised of at least one fatty acid having at least 16 carbon atoms and at least one rosin acid having at least 16 carbon atoms. The combination may further comprise an organic filler comprised of cellulosic material and wherein the thermoplastic polymer has a melt temperature of less than the char temperature of the organic filler. The invention is further directed at a process for producing the composite material comprising the step of combining the components at a temperature of greater than or equal to the melt temperature of the thermoplastic polymer. Where the components include the organic filler, the process temperature is less than the char temperature of the organic filler.

Process for the production of lightweight cellular composites of wood

Removal of particulate solids and water from petroleum crudes to bring the BS&W content of the crude within pipeline specifications is accomplished with the aid of a demulsifier comprising an anionic surfactant soluble in oil, a nonionic surfactant insoluble in water and dispersible in oil, and a cationic surfactant soluble in water, the anionic surfactant being in a major proportion, the nonionic and cationic surfactant being in lesser proportions.

Methods for removing particulate solids and water from petroleum crudes

Petroleum crudes, particularly heavy oil crudes produced by thermal or other enhanced recovery procedures, are treated to break the water-in-oil emulsion and reduce the BS&W content by use of additives, advantageously ammonium bisulfite, which act upon inorganic sulfur contained in the crude.

Method for removing solids and water from petroleum crudes

Particulate solids and water are removed from petroleum crude to bring the BS&W content of the crude within pipeline specifications by treating a blended and dewatered crude to destabilize the water-in-oil emulsion of the crude and providing in uniform distribution through the treated crude both produced water and an acid-reacting coagulating agent while maintaining the crude at a pH of at least 8, then maintaining the resulting treated crude at 52.degree.-88.degree. C. for at least a few minutes, separating the treated crude into at least an oil phase and a water phase, and recovering the oil phase as a clean blended crude oil having a BS&W content within pipeline specifications and in a yield significantly greater than that which can be recovered without use of produced water and coagulating agent.
