The present invention relates to a blend of reinforcement fibers for use in a variety of applications. In particular, the blend of reinforcement fibers can be used in cementitious compositions, such as Portland cement concrete and asphalt cement concrete compositions to reduce or preclude voids and/or cracks formed in the cement concrete upon placement. The blend of reinforcement fibers includes a plurality of first fibers and a plurality of different second fibers. The first and second fibers can be different based on coarseness/fineness, melting temperature, denier and specific chemical or material composition. In certain embodiments, one of the plurality of first fibers and the plurality of different second fibers has a melting temperature that is lower than the temperature of an asphalt cement concrete composition such that the plurality of first or different second fibers serves as a carrier/buffer to improve distribution and dispersion of the fibers in the Portland or asphalt cement concrete composition.

The invention relates to coating compositions, treated reinforced fibers, reinforced asphalt and portland cement concrete and methods for producing the same. The coating compositions include monomer, prepolymer or mixtures thereof, and graft initiator. The present invention relates generally to a reinforcement composition and a method of reinforcing an asphalt cement concrete composition. The reinforcement composition includes a core and an outer container. The core includes a plurality of fibers, and the outer container includes a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, and mixtures thereof.

Reinforcement composition and method thereof

Concrete and mortar composites can be made with two or more sizes of fibers therein. The different sized fibers can be used to adjust the toughness and reliability of the composite material. The different sized fibers can also be used to increase the deflection of concrete or mortar compositions. The variable length of fibers provide for smaller fibers to exist in corners for more strength in smaller spaces. Different mixes of sizes of fibers can also adjust the stiffness of a concrete or mortar composite material. The fibers can be made from a variety of materials, lengths, shapes, aspect ratios or diameters. The fibers can make up variable portions of the composition. Mixing different aspect ratios of fibers together can be used to prevent clumping or balling of the fibers. Mixing of different modulus of elasticity fibers in different ratios can add to the toughness and strength of the composite.
