An insulated glazing unit can include a spacer frame disposed between a first substrate from a second substrate and forming a portion of a sealed boundary and a flexible circuit extending through the sealed boundary. In an embodiment, the flexible circuit includes a flexible ribbon having a total length, L, and an effective length, L, and wherein Lis less than L. In another embodiment, the flexible circuit includes an expandable portion adapted to expand a length of the flexible circuit to accommodate: relative movement between two or more portions of the insulated glazing unit, resizing of one or more portions of the insulated glazing unit, or any combination thereof.

Insulated glazing units and electrical feed throughs

A window assembly can include an insulated glass unit, a mounting assembly moveably coupled to the insulated glass unit, and an electrical component secured to the mounting assembly. A method can include securing an electrical component to a mounting assembly, coupling the mounting assembly to an insulated glass unit, and installing the insulating glass unit in a frame. In an embodiment, after the window assembly is installed within the frame, the mounting assembly can be moved in a final position and securely fastened into position. In an embodiment, the pre-assembly can help to keep all components of a window assembly together during shipping and at the installation site to reduce the likelihood that components are separated or lost during shipping or at the installation site.

Window assembly and a method regarding the same

A high R-rating window assembly storing multiple, reciprocating reflective flexible film layers in a sealed housing between rigid (e.g. glazed) layers. The glazed layers are separated on the order of 3 to 5-inches and are secured to low thermal conductivity framework pieces. The framework is capped with a motorized roller and film housing and the assembly is evacuated and filled with a desiccated, inert dry gas. Several plastic, reflective coated films are supported under tension in planar parallel relation between the glazing layers from the motorized roller and several guide rollers and guide tracks. Location sensors responsive to indicia on the films identify film position. Temperature sensors monitor ambient, internal and user set thermal conditions to control film exposure. The films are operable via a room control system and window controllers to define open, closed and partial exposure conditions. Alternative control functions may control film exposure in relation to room occupancy.

Multi-layered film window system

A method, apparatus and carrier for coating a CRT screen after assembly. The method and apparatus includes isolating a surface portion of the CRT to be coated from the remaining surface to prevent or minimize coating problems resulting from outgassing or difficulty in controlling coating process parameters and to isolate noncompatible components from the deposition environment.

Method and apparatus for thin film coating an article

A rotatable magnetron cathode has one end adapted to be attached to a drive shaft and a free end supported by a yoke suspended from spring-loaded supporting devices attached to a sputtering chamber wall. A dark space shield is attached to the cathode where the cathode connects to the drive shaft of its motor so as to rotate with the cathode. Another dark space shield is attached at the free end of the cathode with an insulator bearing in between such that the cathode can rotate without causing the shield at its front to also rotate. An insulator pad is placed between the yoke and a metal cover piece attached to the shield at the front so as to keep the frontal dark space shield in an electrically floating condition.

Spring-loaded mount for a rotatable sputtering cathode

A magnetron cathode having a magnet housing which encloses a magnet array and has a cooling fluid passage therethrough. The magnet housing fills a significant portion of the cathode leaving a passage of relatively low cross-section for cooling fluid flow between the magnet housing and a cathode wall. The magnet housing may be hermetically sealed to prevent magnet corrosion and may be provided with rollers which engage the cathode wall to prevent magnet housing deformation due to magnetic forces.

A rotatable magnetron cathode having at least one supported end adapted for attachment to a spindle. At least one dark space shield is attached to the cathode at a supported end to rotate therewith, and is electrically floating relative to the cathode. If the cathode is cantilever mounted, a floating cone end shield, facing away from the gas discharge and not overlapping the cylindrical cathode wall, is used at the free end.

A mask arrangement is located between the cathode and substrate in an in-line sputtering system. The relative shape of the mask may be changed from outside the system. Thus, film thickness uniformity can be modified and controlled without interrupting the sputtering process.
