A polymeric film bag having first and second panels that are joined to each other along a pair of opposing sides and a bottom bridging the opposing sides. Each of the first and second panels have an original width. Extending inwardly from near or at one of the pair of opposing sides is a first narrowing seal. The first narrowing seal seals the first and second panels together such that a second width of the first and second panels is created that is smaller than the original widths of the first and second panels.

A method of forming a plurality of easy to open handle bags is provided. The method includes providing a flattened tube of thermoplastic material oriented in a generally longitudinal direction. The flattened tube has a first longitudinal side edge, a second longitudinal side edge, and a transverse heat seal. The tube has first, second, and third sections. The second section is disposed between the first and third sections. The first section is joined to the second section along a generally longitudinal first fold line. The second section is joined to the third section along a generally longitudinal second fold line. A generally rectangular hole is cut through the second section. The generally rectangular hole has a top edge and a bottom edge. The generally rectangular hole is contained transversely between the first and second fold lines. The tube is then Z-folded such that the second section is folded over the third section along the second fold line and the first section is folded over the folded second and third sections along the first fold line. As a result, the first, second, and third sections overlap one another. A line of weakness is formed adjacent the heat seal. The overlapped first, second, and third sections are cut along a first cut line that intersects the line of weakness, extends therefrom past the bottom edge of the generally rectangular hole, and intersects the first fold line. The overlapped first, second, and third sections are also cut along a second cut line that intersects the line of weakness, extends therefrom past the bottom edge of the generally rectangular hole, and intersects the second fold line.

Easy to open handle bag and method of making the same

A grocery bag or the like having a closure member which securely closes the mouth of the bag so as to prevent items contained therein from falling out when the bag is tipped over. Closure is accomplished by a thin flexible strap attached to the front wall of the bag just below the bag mouth defining an opening between the strap and bag wall. The user may close the bag by inserting the hand through the opening defined by the strap and the bag front wall, grasping the bag handles and pulling the handles through the opening.

Disposable outer rain garments which may be dispensed from a continuous web of a tubular, lay-flat plastic film material. The web of lightweight plastic lay-flat tubular material is imparted with suitable rear lines preferably formed from parallel, transversely perforations spaced at suitable and regular intervals along the length extending of the web so as to define individual garments. As a garment is needed by a wearer, the web is drawn off from a supply or feed roll and torn off at the next perforation from the dispensed end of the web. Adjacent to the perforation defining the top of the garment, but ahead of the perforation, there is formed a sealed edge with a perforated aperture for the through-passage of the head of a wearer. At the opposite edges of the web, in effect, at both sides of the garment, perforated apertures are formed for the through-passage of arms.
