A high voltage power supply having a high voltage output terminal and capable of receiving an input for providing an alternating voltage signal to the power supply is provided. A voltage multiplier circuit is provided for operating on the alternating voltage signal and generating a high voltage across positive and negative polarity terminals. An electromechanical transducer is preferably provided for moving the multiplier circuit between a first position where the positive polarity terminal is electrically connected to the high voltage output terminal, and a second position where the negative polarity terminal is electrically connected to the high voltage output terminal.

Reversible polarity high voltage power supply

A bipolar high-voltage switching power supply system includes an input and a first output module for generating power at a first voltage and power rating. In another configuration, a second output module is combined with the first to generate power at double the power rating. The power supply is particularly suited for CT scanners and similar biomedical instrumentation.

High voltage bipolar CT scanner power supply

A switching power supply for providing a dc voltage with substantially no ripple includes a rectifier for rectifying an ac supply, a filter for filtering the rectifier output and an inductor for current limiting. The filtered output includes a ripple generated by the equivalent series resistance of the filter. This ripple is sensed and used to generate a correcting signal. The correcting signal is arranged and sized so that when it is superimposed on the filtered output, the ripple is substantially eliminated. Preferably the correcting signal is coupled to the inductor.
