A method for protecting a network having multiple network subscribers against a cyberattack, in which bits or bit sequences of a message are transmitted between the network subscribers in the network via different voltage levels on at least one transmission route of the network. For this purpose, at least one characteristic of the voltage levels or of the transmitted bits or bit sequences is actively modified in at least one of the network subscribers or on the at least one transmission route and the origin of the transmitted bits or of the at least one transmission route is determined on the basis of the at least one characteristic. The cyberattack on the network is detected or the cyberattack on the network is localized in the network as a function of the ascertained origin.

This synchronization clock pulse may be provided by a hardware and/or software arrangement. A method is provided for operating a field bus network system having a ring topology, which has a master unit and a plurality of slave units, which are connected by a field bus in a ring topology. An access- and starting/driving-authorization system for a motor vehicle, having a portable transponder and a control unit accomodated in the motor vehicle, in order to control the smart master-key system and the engine control unit. In inquiry/response dialogs, the transponder and the control unit enabling or blocking access to the motor vehicle, and the starting and driving of the motor vehicle, using sets of code information that are matched to each other. A vehicle security arrangement includes at least one functional control unit, which provides a first code word; a theft protection control unit, which is coupled via a bus to the at least one functional control unit; and at least one input unit, which transmits to the theft protection control unit a second code word which the theft protection control unit forwards to the at least one function control unit. The theft protection control unit may initiate the provision of the first code word and the second code word. In the at least one functional control unit, a comparison of the first code word of the at least one functional control unit with the second code word takes place. In case of agreement between the first code word and the second code word, the at least one functional control unit enables itself.

A method for preventing misuse of a transponder left inside a vehicle, which is part of a keyless vehicle access system and coacts with a control system for access and driving authorization located in the vehicle. The control system emits, in response to a locking command, a check signal by way of which it is ascertained whether transponders are still located in the vehicle interior after locking. Transponders which are detected as being located in the vehicle interior after locking are recorded in a memory associated with the control system. Upon a subsequent legitimate access to the vehicle, transponders that are not again detected in the interior are inhibited.
