Systems and methods for providing targeted event notifications to subscribers are disclosed. In an example embodiment, events may be received from a publisher. The events may be categorized into a plurality of topics. The events may be distributed among brokers to process a topic selected from the plurality of topics based on the events. Further, it may be determined whether the topic exists in a list of topics handled by the brokers. Authentication credentials of the publisher may be validated, based on the determination. Based on the validation, queues of the events may be formed based on an order of receipt of the events. The events present in the queues may be filtered based on subscriptions of the events. For the fileted events, targeted even notifications may be forwarded to the subscribers.

Subscription based event notifications

Systems and methods for filtering and routing event notifications to subscribers are disclosed. In an example embodiment, events from a publisher may be received. Each of the events may be associated with a topic, and the topic may be compared with topics present in broker metadata cache, based on one of prefixes and a fast lookup technique using a hash-table. Further, it may be determined whether the topic associated the events is present in the broker metadata cache based on comparison. Based upon determining, matching nodes for the events may be retrieved. Further, the events may be routed based on routing tables and availability of the matching nodes. Based on the routing, the events may be forwarded to the subscribers.

Routing and filtering event notifications

Systems and methods for dispatching targeted event notifications to subscribers are disclosed. In an embodiment, the system includes a receiver to receive events from a publisher. The system further comprises a router in communication with the receiver to route the events. The system further comprises a director to forward the targeted event notifications to the subscribers based on the routing. The director receives a delivery status of the targeted event notification from the subscribers. The delivery status includes one of success in receiving the targeted event notification and failure in receiving the targeted event notification. The director receives an event notification with the delivery status as failure in receiving the targeted event notification. The director places the targeted event notification in a delayed queue indicative of events to be delivered after a predefined time. The director re-transmits the targeted event notification to the subscribers based on the delayed queue.

Event delivery

Systems and methods for dispatching targeted event notifications to subscribers are disclosed. In an example embodiment, a notification indicating creation of an even subscription by a subscriber may be received. An event source may be invoked to enable publishing of events corresponding to an event topic associated with the event subscription. A response from the event source for publishing of the events may be received and targeted event notifications may be forwarded to the subscribers on receiving the response.

Managing subscriptions for event notifications

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for using HyperText Transfer Protocol communication as a transport for bi-directional data streams. Embodiments of the invention facilitate passing otherwise blocked TCP communication through a firewall. Embodiments of the invention can be used to pass legitimate TCP communication through a firewall even though a firewall is configured to block the legitimate TCP communication.

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for implementing a tenant provisioning system in a multi-tenancy architecture using a single provisioning master in the architecture, and a data center provisioner in each data center in the architecture. The provisioning master receives user requests to provision a tenant of a service and routes such requests to an appropriate data center provisioner. Each service in the multi-tenancy architecture implements a common interface by which the corresponding data center provisioner can obtain a common indication of load from each different service deployed in the data center thus facilitating the selection of a scale unit on which a tenant is provisioned. The common interface also enables a service to dynamically register (i.e. without redeploying the tenant provisioning system) with the provisioning master as a multi-tenancy service by registering an endpoint address with the provisioning master.

Providing a badge counter from a server to a consumer. The badge counter indicates a number of notifications. A method includes receiving an event in a sequence of events. The event has an associated time stamp. The method further includes associating with the event a plurality of additional time stamps from events in the sequence of events occurring before the event. The method further includes creating a notification for an end user consumer device, the notification including an indication of a badge counter value based on the plurality of additional time stamps. The method further includes sending the notification, including badge counter value to the consumer device.

Counting and resetting broadcast system badge counters

A common infrastructure for management and one way message routing can accommodate a set of related but conceptually different message delivery protocols. Junctions can be simultaneously created and configured at a location within a namespace. As a result, messaging related functionality can be more efficiently and uniformly added to a namespace. Additionally, embodiments include junctions that indicate roles and store behaviors and constraints for roles locally. Thus, computer systems desiring to utilize messaging related functionality can access the junction and utilize messaging related functionality provided at the junction without having to refer to other locations in a namespace (e.g., to perform lookups). Thus, resource and network bandwidth consumption associated with adding and utilizing messaging related functionality to a network infrastructure is reduced.

Adding configurable messaging functionality to an infrastructure

A system and method for providing services to multiple tenants. A system provides a gateway that acts as an intermediary between the tenants and multiple subsystems that provide resources. A management gateway handles requests to manage resources. A runtime gateway handles requests to perform operations related to the resources. A set of protocol handlers isolates the subsystems from protocols used by the tenants. A pipeline of components provides processing, such as authorization, of requests from tenants. Identification of resources is performed using a mechanism that enables multiple namespaces, which may be designated by tenants.

Events can be emitted by a method that includes acquiring data from a plurality of different sources by communicating to the different sources using a plurality of different protocols specific to the different sources and, based on the acquired data, determining that an event should occur. The method can further include causing an event that is normalized for a consistent event evaluation by consumers irrespective of the specific shape of the data from the data source resulting in the event.

The event has data about the event in a normalized form. The method further includes evaluating user preferences of one or more of the plurality of users. The user preferences are expressed in a format matching the format of the normalized form. The method further includes, based on the evaluation, selecting a subset of the plurality of users. The method further includes packaging the event into a delivery bundle with a routing slip identifying the subset of the plurality of users. The method further includes using the delivery bundle, distributing the event to the subset of the plurality of users.

Target subscription for a notification distribution system

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for dispatching client requests to appropriate server-side methods. When a client request is received, a Web server refers to a service contract framework that maps URI paths and HTTP methods to corresponding server implemented methods. A server implemented method corresponding to a URI path and/or an HTTP method included in the client request is identified. The server implemented method is invoked to process the client request message. Accordingly, embodiments of the invention provide a uniform mechanism to dispatch HTTP requests to designated server implemented methods based solely on URI path and HTTP method. That is, an HTTP request can be dispatched to a designated server implemented method without having to include additional dispatch metadata within the HTTP request (e.g., in a SOAP envelope).
