Graphical data-visualizations can be converted into sonified output. For example, a computing device can detect metadata that describes data points for a graphical visualization. The computing device can generate an interactive interface that is different from the graphical visualization based on the metadata. The interactive interface may include a matrix of cells corresponding to the data points in the metadata. The computing device can detect an interaction with a cell in the matrix. The interaction can indicate that a sonified representation of a data point corresponding to the cell is to be output. The computing device can responsively determine at least two sound characteristics for the sonified representation of the data point using a portion of the metadata describing the data point. The at least two sound characteristics can each audibly represent different aspects of the data point. The computing device can then cause the sonified representation to be output.

Converting graphical data-visualizations into sonified output

A geometric plot is generated having at least two axes, wherein a dataset from which the plot will be generated specifies at least one shape for the geometric plot and wherein the plot includes at least one axis having a plurality of discrete, categorical index values. At least one offset value is specified that determines a mapping of one or more shape-defining vertices of the at least one shape to a location that is a fractional distance between two of the discrete, categorical index values, such that a generated set of data specifies a pixel location for each of the shape-defining vertices of the at least one shape.

Techniques for visualization of data

A computer-implemented system and method for generating data graphical displays. The data is indicative of a plurality of variables. The system and method receive data that is to be displayed in a non-textual format. Graph style data items are retrieved that contain display characteristics for displaying the data in the non-textual format. The data is displayed in accordance with the graph style data items.
