A combustion tool having a circuit for conserving battery power includes a battery assembly to power at least a portion of the combustion tool, a control circuit to place the combustion tool in an active mode or a low power consumption mode, and a motion sensing circuit to indicate a movement of the combustion tool and to indicate a non-movement of the combustion tool. A timer is set when a movement is detected and resets each time a new movement is sensed. If a new movement is not sensed when a predetermined amount of time has elapsed, the combustion tool enters into a low power consumption mode. The movement may be a vibration or a tilt movement. The motion sensing circuit enables the tool to be actuated without any unnecessary priming when motion is sensed and only minimal current is consumed when motion is not sensed, conserving battery power.

A combustion nailer includes a housing substantially enclosing a combustion engine having a cylinder head, a control unit associated with the housing for controlling operation of the tool, at least one printed circuit board electrically connected to the control unit for maintaining tool operation, and at least one temperature sensor mounted on the at least one printed circuit board for monitoring tool temperature and for signaling sensed temperature to the control unit.

A combustion nailer includes a combustion-powered power source, at least one fan associated with the power source, at least one temperature sensor in operational proximity to the power source for sensing power source temperature, and a control system operationally associated with the power source and the at least one temperature sensor for disabling the power source by disabling at least one main tool function upon the sensing of a predetermined temperature threshold sensed by the at least one temperature sensor.

Fastener-advancement systems comprise a multiple lever and linkage mechanically operated system operatively connected to the driver blade member of the fastener driving tool, as well as electro-mechanically operated systems, for advancing a leading fastener of a collated strip of fasteners into the driver blade channel of the fastener-driving tool. In the electro-mechanically operated systems, push-type, pull-type, and rotary solenoid actuating members are utilized for moving the fastener-advancement feed pawl or claw member.
