A first instance of a digital watermark may be embedded into an image. The first instance may encode information. A second instance of the digital watermark may be embedded into the image. The second instance may encode the information of the first instance. The second instance may be a sized differently or may be larger than the first instance.

Digital watermarks

According to an example, in a method for mitigating damage to a plurality of drop generators in a printing system, data corresponding to an image to be printed on a media by the printing system may be accessed. In addition, the plurality of drop generators may be controlled to print the image on the media while mitigating damage to the plurality of drop generators and without shifting placement of the image on the media or shifting the plurality of drop generators in a direction perpendicular to a feed direction of the media.

In an example, a non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions that when executed by a processor cause a printing system to determine a text and line print mode or a graphics print mode to use for printing upcoming image content. The printing system selects a first nozzle column to print the image content when the text and line print mode is determined, and selects a second nozzle column to print the image content when the graphics print mode is determined.

According to an example, in a method for enhancing temperature distribution uniformity across a printer die, in which the printer die includes a plurality of drop generators arranged in a plurality of columns, a warming map that identifies the drop generators of the plurality of drop generators that are to be supplied with warming pulses to enhance temperature distribution uniformity across the printer die may be accessed. The warming map may identify a non-uniform distribution of the drop generators across a column of the plurality of columns. In addition, the warming map may be implemented to supply the drop generators identified in the warming map as the drop generators that are to receive the warming pulses.

In an example, a processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to receive an image, a graphical element, and embedding information. The processor further encodes a binary value representing the embedding information into the graphical element. The zeros and ones from the binary value are distinguished in the graphical element by a difference in luminance values applied to segments of the graphical element. The processor further combines the encoded graphical element with the image without altering the image.

A method of detecting a defective nozzle within a nozzle array, may comprise grouping each nozzle with a number of other nozzles within the nozzle array, measuring fluid output from each group of nozzles with a fluid detector, individually regrouping each nozzle within a group of nozzles whose fluid output is detected as not being commensurate with the amount of fluid that should be ejected from that group with a number of known non-defective nozzles to form a number of subsequent groups, and measuring fluid output from the subsequent groups of nozzles to determine which nozzle among the subsequent groups of nozzles is defective.

Hybrid electro-photographic/ink-jet press print systems and primers

A method of inkjet printing includes establishing a back pressure corresponding to a desired print mode in a printhead and changing the back pressure in response to changes in print mode. A printing system for printing in a number of distinct print modes includes an inkjet pen having a printhead and a back pressure control unit having multiple back pressure settings. The back pressure is set to a first value when the printing system is operating in a first print mode to a second value when the printing system is operating in a second print mode. In another embodiment, the printing system includes structure for controlling meniscus condition in the printhead nozzles by selectively changing back pressure.

A printer includes a surface configured to carry an electrostatic charge and a printing material forming an image, a transfer member configured to carry printing material from the surface to media and a heater external to the transfer member. The heater is configured to heat printing material being carried by the transfer member.

In one embodiment, a printing system includes an inkjet printhead configured to traverse bi directionally over a printzone printing one swath in a first direction, and a subsequent swath in a second direction opposite the first direction, with the printhead rising to a base temperature in response to a pre warming signal prior to beginning a swath. The printing system also includes a temperature sensor configured to monitor the temperature of the printhead. A controller is configured to generate the pre warming signal in response to an end of swath temperature monitored by the temperature sensor following printing the one swath.

Aerosol emissions within an inkjet printer are reduced. A printhead of the inkjet printer is fired using a first set of firing conditions when firing conditions are critical for printing performance. When firing conditions are not critical for printing performance, the printhead is fired using a second set of firing conditions. The second set of firing conditions is optimized to provide reduction of aerosol jets.
