Device and method for treatment of light difficient disorders

The invention disclosed relates to gun-launched target projectiles wherein a radar-augmentor is included to increase the radar cross-section of the projectile to simulate on radar, an actual airborne threat such as aircraft and missiles. The radar augmentor comprises a base member, a uniform dielectric lens attached to said base member and a resilient support means between said base member and said lens. The dielectric lens is configured to provide a frontal radar return echo which simulates the actual airborne threat on radar.

Passive radar augmented projectile (PRAP)

An aerial target vehicle has an aerodynamically stabilized body carrying plural rocket motors. An ignition system for the motors serves to fire the motors in selected groups at selected time intervals. The ignition system uses a capacitor as its sole power source. The capacitor is charged only after the motors are in place and the vehicle is ready for launch. A capacitor-powered logic circuit ignites the motor groups at the selected time intervals. The sequential firing of the rocket motors provides a quasi-maneuverable target with relatively long range and flight time. The capacitive power arrangement is a safety factor that prevents premature firing of the rocket due to transient currents.

A fluxgate magnetometer with a linear array of three sensors equi-spaced along a support beam and accurately adjustable into the same spatial orientation for sensing magnetic field anomalies and/or for measuring a single axis component of a magnetic field at two or more points in space. The beam is mounted in an elongate housing provided with pairs of wedges, acting in opposition to one another at opposite ends of the beam, for flexing the beam to adjust the sensors, which have drive windings in containers secured to the beam, the drive windings being rotatably adjustable in their containers relative to sense windings and feedback windings.

A modular target apparatus is described, which is adapted to be towed behind a towing vehicle, typically an aircraft. The modular apparatus includes a fore body, an aft body, and a thrust bearing interconnecting said bodies. The thrust bearing allows predetermined amounts of relative movement between the two bodies. The fore body is tubular and normally houses a miss distance indicator (MDI) device. The aft body has an aerodynamically shaped front end, and includes a trailing skirt. These coact to provide dynamic stability when the target apparatus is being towed. The front end of the aft body is preferably configured to house augmentation means which provides enhancement of a predetermined signal. This is most preferably in the form of a Luneberg lens. At least one of the fore and aft bodies is sometimes a substantially empty tube-like element. The trailing skirt has guides thereon which cause the aft body to follow a predetermined path of motion. The guides are most preferably remotely actuatable guide vanes moveable to selected positions which will determine the path of motion followed.

Low drag, light weight towed target

Film cooling apparatus adapted to be connected into a conduit carrying a hot exhaust gas. The apparatus comprises single walled contoured duct means connectible to said conduit and a center-body aerodynamically shaped and supported within said duct means so as to form therewith an annular channel of zero pressure gradient. Slot means are provided in the single walled contoured duct means and in the center-body to enable a flow of cooling air over exterior surfaces thereof to maintain said surfaces at an acceptably low temperature. A network of ducting carries the cooling air to the contoured duct means and interior of the center-body. The duct means and center-body are preferably of circular cross-section taken orthogonally of the overall flow direction. The center-body is an axisymmetric bulb having annular slots for directing the cooling air over the exterior of said bulb. The center-body connects with a plenum chamber formed by said single walled duct means and an exterior section of the network of ducting. The plenum chamber is also connected to a source of cooling air. An entraining diffuser is connected to said contoured duct means downstream of the center-body. Slots in the center-body, duct means and entraining diffuser are preferably from about 0.25' to about 0.750' in width.
