Firearms being used by non-authorized individuals have been the cause of the death of many innocent people. Guns and rifles are relatively easy to obtain illegally though black markets or by stealing from relatives and acquaintances of registered firearm owners and there is no adequate methods of restricting their operation after they are not controlled by the owner. The current disclosure describes an apparatus and system for remotely monitoring the location, movement and operational status of a firearm and report the status to the firearm owner. Alternatively, the system will track the firearms location and status and report to a central authority when the firearm is fired. This method of operation can be used to notify a central authority to provide backup for an officer under fire. Shots fired and shots heard are detected using acoustic time of flight and sound signature analysis. The detection apparatus being contained within the firearm. In addition, the system uses multiple communication channels to connect with the central authority or firearm owner, including cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Lora wan. These communication channels may send firearm discharge information through the cellular or land line 911 system.

Systems and methods for performing settlement of token access transactions are provided. In one embodiment, the invention provides for batch processing bank card transactions, including receiving transaction records for a plurality of bank card transactions, wherein at least some of the transaction records include encrypted token information; determining whether the transaction records contain encrypted token information; decrypting the encrypted token information for a transaction record that is determined to have encrypted token information; and providing clear text token information obtained by decrypting the encrypted token information for a transaction record for transaction settlement.

In one embodiment, information is enciphered using a variable block length cipher that returns the encrypted symbol set in the same format as the plaintext symbol set. The cipher can be based on DES, AES or other block ciphers. In one example implementation a method for enciphering token information the invention provides for enciphering token information by constructing a tweak of a defined length using token information; converting the tweak to a bit string of a defined size to form a first parameter; converting a number of digits of plaintext to a byte string of a defined size to form a second parameter, wherein the number of digits converted varies; defining a data encryption standard key; applying the data encryption standard key to the first and second parameters; computing a specified number of encryption rounds; and receiving enciphered token information.

In one embodiment, the invention provides for processing token transactions, including receiving an encrypted password for a debit card transaction, wherein the password was secured using encrypted debit-card information, decrypting the password using encrypted debit-card information for the debit card, recreating the password using actual debit-card information for the debit card, and forwarding the recreated password for subsequent transaction processing. The invention is suitable for implementation with other types of tokens in addition to debit-card tokens as well. The invention can be implemented in a scenario where the password includes a PIN block that is created by combining a clear or encrypted PIN for the token with token information.

In one embodiment, the method for encrypting data is provided, comprising: selecting clear text data; selecting a symbol set corresponding to the clear text data; encrypting the clear text data using a key, the encrypting comprising the operations of: defining a first portion and a second portion of the clear text data, encrypting the second portion using the key to generate an encryption mask, and encrypting the clear text data by applying the encryption mask to the first portion using a modulus operation while preserving the second portion as unencrypted, thereby resulting in encrypted data comprising an encrypted first portion and an unencrypted second portion; and wherein the encrypted data has the same format as the clear text data, has the same length as the clear text data, and uses the symbol set of the clear text data.

Systems and methods for monitoring token access transactions are provided. In one embodiment, the invention provides receiving transaction records for a plurality of bank card transactions, wherein the transaction records include transaction information and infrastructure information; determining whether a reportable event has occurred based on the transaction information with the transaction records; and providing an alert representing the reportable event.
