The exercise machine in the present disclosure utilizes novel machine mechanics that accommodate and adjust to the spines shifting axis of rotation. Through the use of a multiple, articulating axes a back exercise machine or device that promotes pure and isolated spinal flexion and extension with no need for mechanical anatomical restraint to succeed has been created. Using these mechanics when users attempt to extend their trunk, the device adjusts to the natural shifting axis of rotation of the spine thereby dis-involving the contribution of the hip extensor muscles. In other works, the exercise back machine of the present disclosure is designed to accommodate the complex biomechanics of the spine and to facilitate targeted strengthening of the spinal erectors and deep intrinsic spinal muscles.

Exercise equipment includes a stationary dock and a user support frame engaging the dock in docking relation, including application as a weight training rack and bench including a weight rack frame and a bench frame releasably lockable to the weight rack frame at a plurality of selectable locking locations therealong. A pair of collapsible spotter platforms are mounted to respective upstanding support posts.

Bidirectional resistance apparatus for exercise equipment are disclosed. An example exercise apparatus comprises a resistance source coupled to a cable between first and second ends of the cable, a rotational resistance mechanism coupled to the first and second ends of the cable, and an exercise arm coupled to the rotational resistance mechanism to rotate in first and second directions, the rotational resistance mechanism to apply a substantially constant resistance to the exercise arm when the exercise arm is rotated in the first and second directions.

Exercise apparatus for resistance training includes an adjustment mechanism raising and lowering a platform, e.g. a stand-upon platform supporting the feet of the user. The adjustment mechanism both: a) journals the platform to pivot about a pivot axis parallel to a first lateral axis into and out of engagement with a detent lock; and b) linearly guides translational up and down movement of the platform and prevents side to side canting of the platform about a second lateral axis.
