The present invention relates to a user interface () for a cooking hob. The user interface () or at least a portion of said user interface () is subdivided into partitions (). Each partition () corresponds with a cooking zone of the cooking hob. Each partition () comprises a digital display (), at least one power input device () and at least one timer input device (). The digital display () includes at least two seven-segment digits. The digital display () is provided for indicating a current cooking parameter, in particular a current power value, of the corresponding cooking zone and a current timer value relating to said corresponding cooking zone. Further, the present invention relates to a cooking hob with at least one user interface ().

User interface for a cooking hob

A method for determining the suitability of a cookware for a corresponding induction coil of an induction cooking hob is provided. The method includes detecting current through the induction coil, detecting the phase difference between the voltage and current of the induction coil, and detecting the frequency at the induction coil. The method further includes comparing the detected current with a stored maximum value of the current, comparing the detected phase difference with a stored maximum value of the phase difference, comparing the detected frequency with a stored maximum frequency, calculating the power transfer from the detected current, phase difference and/or frequency, estimating the suitability of the cookware in dependence of the power transfer and at least one of the compared parameters, and outputting at least one optical and/or acoustic signal corresponding with the suitability of the cookware.

An illumination device for a cooking zone element is provided for a cooking hob which is covered by a transparent panel. The illumination device is provided for a cooking zone element with a central cutout in a central portion of said cooking zone element. The illumination device includes at least one diffuser screen arranged or arrangeable in an upper portion of the central cutout of the cooking zone element and parallel to the transparent panel of the cooking hob. The illumination device includes at least one light source element arranged or arrangeable below the central cutout of the cooking zone element. The illumination device includes an optical lens enclosing an upper portion of the light source element. Further, the present invention relates to a corresponding cooking zone element and cooking hob.
