A system and method for separating and combining three spectrums of light has a polarizing beamsplitter, an input retarder or polarizer located adjacent a first side of the polarizing beamsplitter, a spacer that can also be a splitter located adjacent a second side of the polarizing beamsplitter and a dichroic beamsplitter located adjacent a third side of the polarizing beamsplitter.

Spectral light division and recombination configuration as well as process for the spectrally selective modulation of light

A waveguide plate and a process for making the waveguide plate with a plate-like glass substrate (), carrying a waveguiding layer (), with at least one coupling grating on the surface carrying said waveguiding layer (), which coupling grating is formed as a grating of lines with a period between 150 nm and 1000 nm, the extension of said grating being at least 5 cm with lines parallel to one another, wherein the coupling angle (&#x3b8;) varies by not more than 0.1&#xb0;/cm along a line of said grating and wherein the absolute value of the deviation of the coupling angle (&#x3b8;) on said waveguide plate, from a predefined desired value, does not exceed 0.5&#xb0;. The deviation from the average value of the coupling angle does not exceed 0.3&#xb0;, preferably not 0.15&#xb0; on the whole waveguide plate. The waveguide plate is suitable as part of a sensor platform and of an arrangement of sample compartments for chemo-and bioanalytical investigations in order to produce a coupling grating formed as a line grating with a grating period between 100 nm and 2500 nm.

A spectral light division and recombination configuration and method has an incident face for light to be divided and at least one emergent face for recombined light. A spectrally selective light division system selectively separates light of a first spectral range from light of a second and of a third spectral range left combined. A recombining system recombining light of the first spectral range with light of the second and third spectral ranges are also included and the first spectral range is green light and is spectrally located between the second and the third spectral ranges.

A coupling grating formed as a line grating with a grating period between 100 nm and 2500 nm, a substrate () is covered with a photoresist layer () and exposed for instance at the Lithrow angle (&#x398;) or at 0&#xb0; to a mercury-vapour lamp () via a folding mirror (') through a phase mask () in the near field of which the photoresist layer is arranged, then structured by reactive ion etching and provided with a transparent layer by reactive DC magnetron sputtering, particularly pulsed DC sputtering or AC-superimposed DC sputtering. The phase mask () is structured in advance with the laser two-beam interference method. METHOD FOR PRODUCING A GRID STRUCTURE, AN OPTICAL ELEMENT, AN EVANESCENCE FIELD SENSOR PLATE, MICROTITRE PLATE AND AN OPTICAL COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING COUPLER AS WELL AS A DEVICE FOR MONITORING A WAVELENGTH

A projector arrangement has a light-splitting and recombining device that divides white light into red, green and blue light output at respective surfaces, and recombines red, green and blue light input to these respective. A transparent base body of the arrangement contains a layer of a material with lower refractive index and at least one layer of a material with higher refractive index. The lower refractive index is selected so that 1.7&lE;N &lE;2.1 and the refractive index of the transparent base body is selected so that 1.52&gE;N &gE;1.

Light splitting and recombining arrangement

A spectral light division and recombination configuration has an incident face for light to be divided, at least one emergent face for recombined light and a spectrally selective division and recombination device. The spectrally selective division and recombination device has a polarization-selective division and recombination configuration whereon light of one spectral range (&Dgr;&lgr; ) is separated from light of other spectral ranges (&Dgr;&lgr; , &Dgr;&lgr; ) or light of the one spectral range (&Dgr;&lgr; ) is recombined with light of the other spectral ranges (&Dgr;&lgr; , &Dgr;&lgr; ).

Method for manufacturing a selective light splitter and recombining device that divides white light into red, green and blue light and recombines red, green and blue light independently of polarization, provides two coating systems, each reflecting and transmitting color-selectivity. A transparent base body is embedded in or is on the coating systems and at least one of the coating systems has a layer of a material with lower refractive index and at least one of a material with higher refractive index. The lower refractive index is selected so that 1.7&lE;N &lE;2.1 and the refractive index of the transparent base body is selected so that 1.52&gE;N &gE;1. The method also includes determining an emergent face for the red, green and blue light, and tilting one emergent face such that it forms an angle p deviating from zero by more than is caused by fabrication tolerances for which &phgr;&lE;5&deg;.

Light splitter and optical transmitter configuration with a light splitter

A configuration of prisms is capable of spectral division, or spectral color combination, or both simultaneously even with reflected light that undergoes a change of polarization. The configuration includes first and second prisms each with pairs of faces that respectively form first and second prism angles. One face of one prism is engaged against one face of the other prism with no air gap between. Light of a first spectral range is incidence substantially perpendicular on the other prism face of the first prism after entering the first prism and undergoing a double reflection before leaving the first prism. Light of a second and third spectral range are also incident on the other face of the first prism and pass substantially unreflected through the first prism. Light of the second spectral range after leaving the first prism and entering the second prism is double reflected in the second prism. Light of the third spectral range substantially passes through the second prism as well without reflection. A thin film system is provided between the engaged faces of the first and second prism and has a spectral reflection behavior as a function of the angle of incidence of the reflected light which is matched to the first and second prism angle such that light of the first spectral range, at an angle of incidence which is about equal to the first prism angle, is at least largely reflected and light incidence at this same angle but of the second and third spectral range is at least largely transmitted. Light of the second spectral range at an angle of incidence of twice the second prism angle minus the first prism angle is largely reflected.

Configuration for color division and/our recombination

A spectrally selective light splitter divides white light into red, green and blue light or recombines white light from red, green and blue light using two separate coating systems. Each system reflects and transmits color selectively, and are applied or embedded on or in at least one transparent base body, with at least one of the coating systems is made up of at least one layer of a material with lower refractive index as well as at least one layer of a material with higher refractive index. For the lower refractive index N,: 1.7&lE;N,&lE;2.1 and the reflective index N,of at least the transparent base body on which the system is applied follows the rule: 1.52&gE;N,&gE;1.
