The present disclosure relates to a system and a method for identification of individual animals based on images, such as 3D-images, of the animals, especially of cattle and cows. When animals live in areas or enclosures where they freely move around, it can be complicated to identify the individual animal. The present disclosure relates to a method for determining the identity of an individual animal in a population of animals with known identity, the method comprising the steps of acquiring at least one image of the back of a preselected animal, extracting data from said at least one image relating to the anatomy of the back and/or topology of the back of the preselected animal, and comparing and/or matching said extracted data against reference data corresponding to the anatomy of the back and/or topology of the back of the animals with known identity, thereby identifying the preselected animal.

System and method for identification of individual animals based on images of the back

The present disclosure relates to a system and a method for identification of individual animals based on images, such as 3D-images, of the animals, especially of cattle and cows. When animals live in areas or enclosures where they freely move around, it can be complicated to identify the individual animal. In a first aspect the present disclosure relates to a method for determining the identity of an individual animal in a population of animals with known identity, the method comprising the steps of acquiring at least one image of the back of a preselected animal, extracting data from said at least one image relating to the anatomy of the back and/or topology of the back of the preselected animal, and comparing and/or matching said extracted data against reference data corresponding to the anatomy of the back and/or topology of the back of the animals with known identity, thereby identifying the preselected animal. The method and system can be used to monitor feed intake, such as feed intake for dairy cows as well as health status.

The invention regards an animal monitoring system for determining feed consumption of one or more animals feeding at a feeding area, comprising an imaging unit for range imaging the feeding area, identification means configured to uniquely identify each feeding animal, and processing means configured for assessing the amount of feed consumed by each identified animal by determining the reduction of feed in subsequent images of the feeding area in front of each identified animal.

This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining quality properties of fish on the basis of light reflection. A fish and a reflection measurement device ( ) with a light emitter and a light receiver ( ) are positioned in relation to each other, with the light emitter and light receiver of the device directed towards the fish's inner abdominal wall with peritoneum, so that the light emitter illuminates an area of the fish through the peritoneum and the light receiver captures the light reflected from the fish. The intensity of the reflected light is registered in three or more different wavelength bands, in the visible and near-infrared range. Measurement results registered are, after any processing, entered into an algorithm in a calculation unit, where the algorithm expresses a quality property of the fish.

Method and apparatus for determining quality properties of fish

An apparatus for examining a flowable material comprises a tube having an opening for receiving material and an opening for discharging material. Further, the tube comprises a segment adapted for making measurements. Adjacent the tube section there is a measuring device having a light source on one side for transmitting light into the segment and a light receiver on the opposite side to measure the effect upon the light of a material placed in the segment. At the beam path between the light source and the light receiver, the walls of the tube segment are made of a material being translucent or transparent to the range of light wavelengths to be examined. A recording unit connected to the measuring device records individual measurement values or sets of same on material placed in the tube segment. Samples may be conveyed through the apparatus by means of a device comprising a tube having an opening for receiving a material and an opening for discharging material as well as a tube segment adapted for making measurements. A movable closure means is placed in the tube at the opening for receiving material, and a conveying member conveys the material having been received into the tube segment adapted for making measurements.
