A technique facilitates pressure testing of a seal positioned between a wellhead and a subsea tree system. The technique utilizes an isolation sleeve which may comprise a mandrel having an internal mandrel passage as well as a lower seal and an upper seal positioned along an exterior of the mandrel. The isolation sleeve also may comprise a retention member mounted along the exterior of the mandrel. The retention member, e.g. a retention nut, may be rotatably mounted about the exterior of the mandrel and may comprise external threads or other mechanism for securing the isolation sleeve to the subsea tree system. In some embodiments, the upper end of the isolation sleeve may be constructed in a uniform manner for insertion into a universal profile of the subsea tree system.

A technique facilitates protection of potentially susceptible components from unwanted exposure to well fluids or other fluids in a monobore subsea installation. The subsea installation may comprise various components, e.g. a tubing hanger and a subsea tree which form a plenum region therebetween. An annulus stab (or stabs) is positioned to extend between the tubing hanger and the subsea tree so as to provide an isolated flow path within the annulus stab and through the plenum region. The isolated flow path also may extend longitudinally through the tubing hanger until exiting through a side of the tubing hanger. The annulus stab and overall isolated flow path are thus able to accommodate an annulus flow within the monobore subsea installation while protecting components exposed to the plenum region from contact with deleterious fluids in the annulus flow path.

A technique facilitates use and operation of a tree cap which may be deployed into engagement with a subsea tree located over a subsea well. The subsea tree may comprise a production flow passage and an annulus flow passage in communication with a tree cap receiving area. The tree cap may be moved via a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) into position in the tree cap receiving area. The ROV also may be operated to selectively lock and/or release the tree cap with respect to its position in the subsea tree.

A system, in certain embodiments, includes a tubing hanger running tool (THRT) configured to position a tubing hanger within a wellhead. The THRT includes an integrated pressure equalization system including a tube having a first end in fluid communication with an annulus of the wellhead, and a second end in fluid communication with a control line. The integrated pressure equalization system also includes a piston disposed within the tube. The piston is configured to move within the tube to balance a pressure differential between a first fluid within the annulus and a second fluid within the control line.

A system, in certain embodiments, includes a subsurface safety valve (SSV) biased toward a closed position, and configured to open by application of hydraulic pressure. The system also includes a tubing hanger running tool (THRT), including a conduit in fluid communication with the SSV, and a pressure release valve fluidly coupled to the conduit. The pressure release valve is configured to maintain sufficient hydraulic pressure within the conduit to hold the SSV in an open position while the pressure release valve is in a closed position.

A system includes a tubing hanger running tool (THRT) configured to position a tubing hanger within a wellhead. The THRT includes an integrated pressure equalization system including a tube having a first end in fluid communication with an annulus of the wellhead, and a second end in fluid communication with a control line. The integrated pressure equalization system also includes a piston disposed within the tube. The piston is configured to move within the tube to balance a pressure differential between a first fluid within the annulus and a second fluid within the control line.
