Included are embodiments for image distortion reduction in web printing. Some embodiments are configured for determining an ink drop speed of ink from a printer and determining a web travel speed of a web of material, where the web of material engages with a folding board during printing that manipulates a plane of the web of material such that a projection of the web width is effectively reduced. Some embodiments may be configured for determining an altered web geometry of the web of material while engaging with the folding board, receiving a desired image for printing on the web of material, and calculating a pixel displacement of the plurality of pixels. Some embodiments may be configured for creating an altered image that utilizes the pixel displacement from the desired image and sending data related to the altered image for printing on the web of material.

Systems and methods for image distortion reduction in web printing

A method and apparatus for transferring a web wound about a loaded core. The steps include providing a core shaft axially extending between a core shaft first end and a core shaft second end, providing a web wound about a loaded core, the loaded core coaxially related to the core shaft, axially supporting the core shaft by a first axial support operatively engaged with the core shaft first end and a second axial support operatively engaged with the core shaft second end, axially moving the loaded core from the core shaft to the second axial support, and removing the first axial support and the second axial support.

Method and apparatus for transferring a wound web

A method for forming air-laid fibrous articles. The method includes the steps of providing a stream of loose air-entrained fibers, providing a core pocket assembly comprising a central foraminous forming surface and an edge foraminous forming surface, applying a first pressure to the central foraminous forming surface, applying a second pressure to the edge foraminous forming surface wherein the second pressure applied to the edge foraminous forming surface differs from the first pressure applied to the central foraminous forming surface, depositing a portion of the stream of loose air-entrained fibers on the central foraminous forming surface, and depositing a portion of the stream of loose air-entrained fibers on the edge foraminous forming surface.

Method for making air-laid structures

A method for forming air-laid fibrous articles. The steps of the method can include providing a stream of loose air-entrained first fibers, providing a core pocket operatively related to the stream of loose air-entrained first fibers, the core pocket including a central foraminous forming surface and an edge foraminous forming surface, applying a negative pressure to one of the foraminous forming surfaces, applying a positive pressure to the other foraminous forming surface, depositing the first fibers on one of the foraminous forming surfaces, providing a stream of loose air-entrained second fibers, operatively relating the core pocket to the stream of loose air-entrained second fibers, applying a negative pressure to one of the foraminous forming surface, and depositing the second fibers on that foraminous forming surface.

The core pocket can further have a central opening defined by a void in the shield. The core pocket can further have a central forming chamber in air-flow communication with the central opening and having a central forming chamber periphery. The core pocket can further have a pair of edge openings extending along the shield. The core pocket can further have an edge forming chamber disposed about the central forming chamber periphery and in air-flow communication with the edge openings. Apparatus for making air-laid structures

An apparatus for forming air-laid fibrous articles. The apparatus can have a core pocket operatively related with an air-distribution manifold that can apply different air pressures to different portions of the core pocket. The core pocket can have a shield and a central opening defined by a void in the shield. The core pocket can have a central forming chamber in air-flow communication with the central opening and have a central forming chamber periphery. The core pocket can have a central foraminous forming surface in air-flow communication with the central forming chamber. The core pocket can have a pair of edge openings extending along the shield. The core pocket can have an edge forming chamber disposed about the central forming chamber periphery and in air-flow communication with the edge openings. The core pocket can have an edge foraminous forming surface in air-flow communication with the edge forming chamber.

A folding system is provided for folding at least one wing extending from a central chassis of each of a plurality of absorbent articles formed from a continuous moving web moving in a longitudinal direction. The folding system has a wing-folding conveyor and at least one elongated, folding plow, which has an entrance end, an exit end and an inner edge that define a twist axis. The folding plow has a contoured surface having a configuration defined by a twist angle that increases along the twist axis from zero degrees near the entrance end to 180 degrees near the exit end. The wing-folding conveyor moves the central chassis along the inner edge of the folding plow and the wing slides against the contoured surface from the entrance end to the exit end, such that the wing folds around the central chassis near the inner edge.
