The invention concerns a method for compressing and decompressing a structured document, associated with at least a tree diagram structure defining a document structure and comprising nested structure elements, associated with a type of information, and representing sets of data, the method comprising steps which consists in: performing a syntactic analysis of the structure diagram and standardizing it so as to obtain a single predefined sequence of the elements of the diagram; compiling the standardized diagram to obtain finite automata, each automaton comprising states interconnected by transitions respectively representing the elements of the structure; and compressing the document, and executing at least a compression algorithm associated with a type of information, when a set of data having the type of information is encountered in the document.

Method for compressing/decompressing structure documents

The method applies to a structured document presenting a hierarchical structure defined by a structure schema, the document combining a main structured set of information including information subsets at least some of the information subsets being structured and being capable of including information subsets of lower hierarchical level, each information subset being associated in the higher level information set with a respective information type. The method includes: dividing the document into structured portions capable of being handled individually, namely a main portion and at least one secondary portion, the main portion containing at least the main set of information, and the secondary portion containing an information subset which is removed from the main set of information, each secondary portion being attached to the main portion or to another secondary portion; and allocating a predefined value to the information type of each information subset that has been removed from an information set of higher hierarchical level.

Method for dividing structured documents into several parts

An encoding method for enabling a decoder to decode a structured document having a structure defined in a first schema not accessible to the decoder and resulting from a change of a second schema accessible to the decoder, the first schema defining at least one information element which is derived from a corresponding element defined in the second schema, the encoding method comprising the steps of: encoding the document using said first and second schemas into a binary stream comprising for each elements of the document a binary sequence encoding the element, and inserting in the binary sequence encoding the derived element a reference designating the first schema in which the structure of the derived element is defined, said reference designating the first schema being defined in a schema reference list containing references to all schemas used for encoding the document, the schema reference list being made accessible to the decoder.
