A jewelry item having a rotatable gemstone includes a substantially hollow housing having a bezel and gemstone rotatably mounted on the upper end thereof. Received within the housing is a quartz movement type motor that operates a plurality of interrelated, contiguous gears to rotate the bezel. The gear ratios are such that the bezel will rotate at a predetermined, deliberate speed to achieve a desired aesthetic affect. A switch having a battery mounted thereon is hingedly attached to a side edge of the housing for activating the motor.

An articulated watch includes two juxtaposed cases, each containing an electronic movement, and a connector for mechanically joining the two cases in an articulated manner and allowing the two movements to be connected using electrical conductors. The connector is formed of two bars that are arranged on either side of the cases. The bars include an internal channel for the passage of the electrical conductors and have ends that are mounted so as to rotate freely but are locked in translation in four holes arranged in the middle parts of the cases along two substantially parallel axes.

A time-setting mechanism for a clock movement with perpetual Julian date comprising a device for driving a date indicator including driving means for moving forward said indicator by one jump every twenty-four hours. The movement has an adjusting device for automatically moving said indicator by a number of steps taking into account months with 28, 29 or 30 days, said device comprising a rotary cam driven by at least one step every twenty-four hours, said cam having a profile for steering a sensor bringing about: the oscillating movement of a moving mechanism provided with a pawl system for moving forward the date indicator by the required additional number of adjusting steps; and for moving forward said cam by a number of steps equal to the number of said indicator adjusting steps so as to make it move one complete cycle per year.

A miniature peristaltic pump includes a rotor with three turning rollers, a support piece with a rounded portion arranged substantially concentric to the rotor and against which, when operating, the rollers are brought to compress a flexible tubing connected to a reservoir of solution to push it outwards and for automatically compensating positional deviations between the roller and the support piece. Each roller has a substantially cylindrical body and a shaft on which the body is rotatably mounted. The ends of the roller shafts are located in oblong slots radially recessed in the rotor. The compensating device includes two springs arranged at the respective ends of the shafts and have a central port concentric to the rotor and three curved spring arms, one for each roller, with one end connected to the central part and the other end bearing on the corresponding end of a roller shaft to push it outwards and thus enable it to exert a substantially constant force of pressure.

A watch casing has a back and a body or middle part made in one piece, and a glass engaged in the middle part. A strap is provided with an annular central portion bearing on the glass and with diametral arms secured to hinge lugs of the casing serving for the attachment of the bracelet. Thus, the glass is retained in place even when it is only engaged frictionally in a sealing gasket located in the casing body. The removal of the glass can be effected easily by engaging a blade into a lip of the casing body and into an annular groove provided for this purpose in the lateral face of the glass.

An oscillatory mass operative to drive the rotor of a current generator adapted to charge a capacitor feeding the clockwork of an electronic watch is situated above the dial of the watch, which dial serves as a supporting plate for this mass. The arm of the mass is articulated at the center of the clockwork by means of a ball-bearing carried by the plate constituting the dial. The hours division is of relatively small diameter, leaving free the annular part of the dial opposite which the peripheral portion of the mass moves. The dial serves at the same time as a supporting member for the outer journal ring of a ball-bearing supporting the oscillatory mass and is secured to the frame of the clockwork by means of screws. The outer journal ring of the ball-bearing supporting the mass is rigid with a pinion meshing with a pinion of gearing coupled to the rotor of an electric generator driven by the said mass.

The watch comprises a conventional timepiece movement driving the hours-hands, the minutes-hands and the seconds-hands, to which is added a chronograph module the frame of which, having the shape of a bell, covers the movement of the timepiece. The chronograph is autonomous, i.e. its indicators are not driven by the basis movement but by electric motors situated around the central movement, fed by a battery and piloted by a quartz oscillator, the frequency divisions being effected by an integrated circuit. The printed circuit associated with this whole comprises an annular plate surrounding the timepiece movement. An intermediary plate ensures the connection between the timepiece movement and the chronograph module. The transformation of a conventional timepiece movement into a chronograph watch is thus very easy, the chronograph module being able to be applied to very different timepiece movements, only the intermediary plate having to be different.

The base plate bears on one of its surfaces a motor for counting off current time and two motor units for counting off minutes and hours of measured time intervals. On the lower surface it bears a motor for counting off seconds of measured time and a motor for counting off hundredths of seconds of measured time, these latter being partially superposed over the motors on the other surface. A tube is placed so as to locate and guide by its outer surface the display wheel train driven by the current time motor and by its inner surface the display wheel train driven by the motors which count seconds and hundredths of seconds of measured time. Two substrates placed respectively above and below the motors are connected by contact blocks. A control circuit and a quartz resonator are fastened to the lower substrate. The battery is accommodated in a lodging adapted thereto and its thickness extends to both surfaces of the base plate. The motor units for counting off minutes and hours of measured time may be separately pre-assembled. They drive indicators placed in off-center positions on the dial.
