A device is provided for adding to signals of the same frequency but of any phases and amplitudes. The device has two inputs and two outputs. The outputs each deliver a combination of the signals fed to the input. In a particular application, corresponding to reinjection of a recovery signal from a linear accelerator, the combination is an addition. At a first output of the device the whole of the added signal is recovered for reinjection, at a second output of the device the signal is zero. The efficiency of the device is total.

Device for combining two alternating signals of the same frequency

A particle accelerator with frequency correction is provided in which an electromagnetic wave, supplied by a generator, is injected into a cavity through a wave guide. A frequency corrector device comprises two non directional couplers taking directly from said wave guide a standing wave from which an error signal is elaborated and applied to said generator for correcting the frequency of the electromagnetic wave.

Particle accelerator with frequency correction

An irradiation apparatus for obtaining an irradiation beam having precise and easily adjustable dimensions. This apparatus comprises more particularly a secondary collimation device having an axis Y--Y, removably fixed to the mobile arm of the irradiation apparatus and comprising a conical pot, two pairs of frames which support collimating plates and are movable about shafts fixed to said conical pot, each of said frames being connected to said conical pot by means of a compass system formed from legs hinged together about shafts. With said frames are associated mobile antipenumbra plates whose position is checked by means of a feeler system.

Irradiation apparatus using radioactive sources

A beam of charged particles is guided along a path including a looped section between two rectilinear stretches, each of these stretches being provided with focusing and centering means. A holder insertable into the outgoing stretch, ahead of a collimator, carries a target designed to emit photons upon being struck by incident particles. The target holder is linked with a retracting mechanism which also controls a diaphragm in the looped path section to narrow its aperture when the target is in place. A dose-equalizing filter utilized in the latter instance is movable jointly with the target holder out of the path of the exiting beam.

Radiation device using a beam of charged particles

A device for furnishing a scanning beam intended for irradiating a target, the irradiating dose level having a predetermined distribution on the target. The device comprises a main magnetic system having a plurality of polepieces for scanning the charged particle beam and a secondary magnetic system having a plurality of polepieces and being located upstream of the main magnetic system for variably offsetting the beam entering the main magnetic system. In a preferred embodiment the main and secondary magnetic systems are provided with quadripoles with respective coils which are supplied in pairs with signals S.sub.X1, S.sub.Y1, and S.sub.X2, S.sub.Y2, the signals S.sub.X1, S.sub.Y1 being for example of 'sawtooth' waveform and those S.sub.X2, S.sub.Y2 of 'squarewave' waveform. The signals may be co-phasal or in phase-opposition.

Device for scanning a target with a beam of charged particles

A particle accelerator for obtaining high energy particle beams, comprises an accelerating structure S.sub.A, one mirror or two mirrors constituted with magnetic achromatic and stigmatic deviators and a source K of particles located at the entry of the accelerating structure S.sub.A and having an annular shape allowing the accelerated particles having passed twice through the accelerating structure S.sub.A to cross the source K, the axis of the source K being coincidental with the axis of the accelerating stucture S.sub.A. Magnetic fields are determined in such a manner that the mirrors totally reflect the particles having a predetermined energy level and totally transmit the particles having an energy level higher than this predetermined energy level.
