A series of progressive ophthalmic lenses is proposed, which is indexed by optical power addition values of eyeglasses of spectacles to be made from these lenses. Each lens of the series determines a further gap between a value of the optical power for the near vision direction and a maximum value of the optical power which is obtained for a direction of gaze pointing below said near vision direction. The lenses of the series are adapted for postures of wearers that may vary as a function of the optical power addition values.

The invention relates to a method for producing a novel progressive glasses lens intended for a presbyopic wearer, which takes into account the postural habits of the wearer, acquired through prior conditions of ophthalmic correction. A design for the novel progressive lens is established by modifying a reference lens in compliance with an aptitude of the wearer to modify his/her postural habits. To this end, variations in a postural parameter are determined using measurements of said parameter, which are carried out on the wearer. The invention enables the reduction of a period of habituation by the wearer to the novel progressive glasses lens.

A method for producing an ophthalmic glass () intended for an identified wearer of spectacles comprises distribution of an optical power addition between an anterior face (S) and a posterior face (S) of said glass. Said distribution of the addition is done in such a way as to modify an optical characteristic as a function of relative amplitudes of eye and head movements of the wearer. Superior comfort of the glass in use is thus obtained. The optical characteristic which is considered may be, in particular, a variation of magnification procured by the glass between far and near vision conditions. An improvement of the invention is to also modify a design of the progressive glass as a function of the amplitudes of the eye and head movements of the wearer, using only a single semifinished glass model of fixed design for each addition value of the anterior face.

The invention relates to the determination of a pair of ophthalmic lenses, by measurement of the sagittal plane shift of the wearer for close vision with relation to the standard sagittal plane. Optimisation targets are then chosen as a function of the measured shift. The lenses are determined by optimisation with the chosen targets. Lenses are thus obtained with which the field of close vision is symmetrical with relation to the medial line as perceived by the wearer. A wearer with a displaced sagittal plane thus has a greater close vision field which facilitates binocular vision and increases acuity.

Method for determination of a pair of progressive ophthalmic lenses

The invention concerns a set of progressive multifocal opthalmic lenses, each having a first progressive multifocal surface and a second surface preferably spherical. It proposes to define the set of lenses with regard to the optical characteristics of the lenses, and particularly wearer power and oblique astigmatism, in worn conditions. For this purpose, the invention defines an ergorama associating with each sight direction in worn conditions a target object point, and a given power. This ergorama supplies a power target for a definition by optimisation of the lenses, and is used in a radii plotting programme for calculating the optical characteristics during optimisation. The set of lenses has substantially identical optical performances for a given addition, whatever the power of the far vision reference point.

Set of progressive multifocal ophthalmic lenses

An ophthalmic lens with an aspherical face is provided having a near vision region which is larger in size and wider than that of conventional multifocal lenses, and having reduced aberrations and, notably, astigmatism. Using .DELTA. to signify a difference in mean sphere between the near vision control point and the geometrical center of the lens, this is achieved by making a surface area defined by points less than 20 mm from the geometrical center of the lens, and for which cylinder is comprised between 0.42.DELTA. and 0.84.DELTA. greater than the surface area defined by points less than 20 mm from the geometrical center, and for which cylinder is less than 0.42.DELTA..

Ophthalmic lens

A multifocal ophthalmic lens comprising a far vision region, a near vision region and an intermediate vision region is provided having a high near vision region and a wide vision field in the near vision region, the intermediate vision region and in the far vision region. Progression is gentle although the distance between a mounting center on the lens and the point where power addition is 85% higher than power addition at a far vision control point is less than 16 mm, while simultaneously maximum cylinder inside a 20 mm radius circle centered on a geometrical center of the lens is kept at a low value.

Multifocal ophthalmic lens

A progressive multifocal ophthalmic lens is provided having an aspherical surface with a mean sphere and a cylinder at every point. The aspherical surface has a distance vision portion, with a control point for distance vision, a near vision portion with a control point for near vision, and an intermediate vision portion between the near vision portion and the distance vision portion. A power addition value A is defined as a variation in mean sphere between the control point for distance vision and the control point for near vision portion. A base B is defined as a value of mean sphere at the control point for distance vision. A width of the near vision portion varies not only as a function of the power addition value A, but also as a function of the value B of the base. The invention thereby ensures the presence of a substantially constant object field for all values of the power addition and of the base.

Progressive multifocal ophthalmic lens

The lens has an aspherical surface having a zone for far vision, a zone for near vision, and between these two zones, a zone for intermediate vision, with a meridian curve along which the curvature of the surface varies progressively and which is inclined from top to bottom towards the nose side of the lens, at least in the intermediate zone. The portion of the meridian curve situated in the intermediate and near zones includes a segment at an angle .alpha. to the vertical where the value of .alpha. is an increasing function of the power addition A of the lens. In a horizontal and vertical system of coordinates, a point of the segment has an ordinate whose value is also an increasing function of the power addition A. At said point, the mean sphere value of the surface corresponds to a power addition lying in the range 0.8 to 0.92 times the nominal power addition of the lens.
