Methods and systems for protecting the privacy of a user of a communication system that include enabling a first user to block a second user so that the first user generally appears to the second user to be unavailable. The method includes allowing a third user to establish a group that includes the first user and the second user. The group may be any sort of group that involves communication among three or more users. For example, the group may be an instant message group, voice chat, conference call, video conference, or any other suitable group communication. The method also enables a blocked user to be temporarily unblocked so as to prevent his blocking decision to be revealed to the blocked user.

Protecting privacy in group communications

An example apparatus is provided that includes a processor and a memory storing executable instructions that in response to execution by the processor cause the apparatus to at least perform a number of operations. The operations include receiving a communication including an application protocol primitive that itself includes protocol information element(s). The operations also include comparing the application protocol primitive to a protocol document type definition (DTD) including a plurality of elements, and lawful interception attribute(s) for one or more of its elements. The application protocol primitive is compared to the DTD to identify lawful interception attributes of protocol information element(s) of the primitive. The operations also include preparing one or more of the protocol information elements for transmission to an interception monitoring facility according to the lawful interception attributes of the respective protocol information element(s).

A proxy maintains registration in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network for a user equipment while the user equipment is disconnected from the system. The user equipment connects to the proxy and establishes a proxy session with the proxy. The proxy opens a proxy session for the user equipment, establishes a registration within said IMS network for IMS services on behalf of the user equipment; and maintains the registration for the user equipment for the duration of the proxy session. While the proxy session is ongoing, the user equipment can disconnect from the IP proxy.

Maintaining IMS registration while disconnected from IP bearer

The frame transfer priority (hereinafter called) FTP capability definition distinguishes between FTP indices and classes. Several FTP indices may be mapped into one or more FTP classes by a network and different networks may map differently FTP indices to classes. When a frame relay SVC traverses multiple networks it may not be clear what is the exact FTP it is assigned. The concept of frame transfer normalized priority (hereinafter called FTnP) overcomes this disadvantage. The FTnP is a precise and uniform measure of the FTP assigned to a frame relay SVC or PVC.
