A display device including an array of pixels, each pixel including at least three sub-pixels having a LED device emitting light with a blue color point. The first sub-pixel is designed to emit red light having a first color point, the second sub-pixel is designed to emit green light having a second color point, where the LED device of the third sub-pixel is covered with a third wavelength converting layer designed to emit light having a fourth color point. The fourth color point being such that the combination of light emitted by the LED device not converted by the wavelength converting layer and the light converted by the wavelength converting layer results in light having a third color point, where the first, the second and the third color points define a second color space in which a set color space is included.

A reflective display device and a method of making or operating the display device, where the reflective display device includes a spatial reflective light valve, at least one light emitting element being positioned in front of the spatial reflective light valve and light shaping device to direct the light generated by the at least one light emitting element in defined directions with respect to the spatial reflective light valve. This makes use of the fact that the contrast improves and the diffuse reflection component of the reflective display increases when the illumination direction gets closer to the perpendicular direction but rays close to the perpendicular direction need to be reduced in intensity or better still avoided to reduce the specular component. This can use illumination directions close to the perpendicular direction while preventing or reducing specular reflection within a range of incident angles.

A universal device provided with means to be controlled by a control unit which forms part of a projector. The device, in conjunction with this control unit, can be used for the automatic adjustment of the projector. More specifically, the adjustments of convergence, geometry, focus, astigmatism, contrast modulation, gamma correction, soft edge, adjacent and overlapping geometry. In addition, the device provides support for non-adjustment tasks such as signal decoding, signal testing and analysis, peak detection, RAM expansion, wire-free transmission of information between at least two projectors. The universal device exhibits different operational characteristics in accordance with different applications imposed on it by the control unit of the projector. The device includes an analog-to-digital converter, a memory, a programmable digital component, and an interface to the control unit of the projector as some of the components.
