A Rogowski coil in a sensor unit has voltage induced by a conductor surrounded by the Rogowski coil. The voltage is integrated to represent current which is converted to digital data representing current in the conductor and sent wirelessly to a multimeter. The sensor unit may receive control signals from the multimeter and a remote control apparatus. A plurality of sensor units may be networked and controlled by the remote control apparatus.

Systems and methods that provide a portable, verified voltage source that allows safe testing of separate contact and non-contact voltage measurement devices. A proving unit of the present disclosure selectively provides a known or specified direct current (DC) voltage, a contact alternating current (AC) voltage, and a non-contact AC voltage, which voltages may be fixed or may be user-selectable. The proving unit may include a visual indicator and/or an audible indicator that provides the user with an indication confirming that the proving unit is supplying the selected output voltage within the specifications of the proving unit, so the user will know that the proving unit is operating normally and is ready for testing the operation of a contact or non-contact voltage measurement device. If the proving unit cannot provide the specified voltage output, the indicator(s) provides a signal to the user that the proving unit is currently non-functional.

Analysis systems can include both a test and measurement tool for generating measurement data representative of at least one parameter of a device under test and an imaging tool for generating image data representative of a target scene. An electrical isolation mechanism can electrically isolate a user operating the analysis tool from the test and measurement circuit through the imaging tool. The electrical isolation mechanism can include an insulating coating surrounding a part of the imaging tool having an opening proximate the imaging tool so that electromagnetic radiation can enter through the opening and reach the imaging tool. The opening can be sized so that a standard finger cannot penetrate the opening to within a predetermined distance of the imaging tool. Additionally or alternatively, a window positioned over the opening can prevent access to the imaging tool via the opening.

Wireless rogowski coil system

Systems and methods provide measurement of alternating current (AC) electrical parameters in an insulated wire without requiring a galvanic connection between the insulated wire and a test probe. Measurement systems or instruments may include a housing that includes both a non-contact voltage sensor and a non-contact current sensor. The measurement system obtains measurements from the voltage sensor and the current sensor during a measurement time interval and processes the measurements to determine AC electrical parameters of the insulated wire. The AC electrical parameters may be presented to an operator via a visual indicator device (e.g., display, lights). The AC electrical parameters may additionally or alternatively be communicated to an external device via a wired and/or wireless communications interface. The measurement system may include an alignment feedback sensor that provides feedback to a user regarding the mechanical alignment of the insulated wire relative to the voltage sensor and the current sensor.

Non-contact electrical parameter measurement systems

Systems and methods for measuring alternating current (AC) voltage of an insulated conductor (e.g., insulated wire) are provided, without requiring a galvanic connection between the conductor and a test electrode or probe. A non-galvanic contact (or 'non-contact') voltage measurement system includes a variable capacitance subsystem which operates to generate a variable capacitive voltage between an insulated conductor under test and earth ground. During measurement, the non-contact voltage measurement system varies the capacitance of the variable capacitance subsystem to change the impedance of a capacitive divider circuit between the insulated conductor under test and earth ground. By sequentially making two (or three) measurements across the variable capacitance subsystem, the AC voltage of the insulated conductor can be determined without requiring any galvanic connection to the insulated conductor. The determined AC voltage of the insulated conductor may then be presented to an operator and/or communicated to an external device.

Variable capacitance non-contact AC voltage measurement system

A system includes a testing device, a current clamp, and circuitry for converting an electrical current. The testing device is configured to measure a characteristic relating to electrical equipment and to transmit data representing the measured characteristic to a remote computing device. The electrical equipment includes an electrical conductor carrying an electric current. The current clamp forms a current transformer. The current clamp is configured to be clamped around the electrical conductor and the current transformer is configured to induce an electric current from the electrical conductor. The circuitry is configured to convert the induced electric current to a direct current that is usable to power the testing device.
