A joint for furniture uses alternating tabs and slots formed along an edge of first and second furniture panels. The panels are joined together so that tabs in the first panel are disposed in slots in the second panel and tabs in the second panel are disposed in slots in the first panel. This arrangement causes the slots to flex outwardly and the tabs to flex inwardly once assembled and creates residual stress in the assembled joint which stiffens the joint.

An improved joint is provided for modular furniture. The joint includes a dovetail shaped tab and a corresponding slot. The tab is held in the slot such that the tab is maintained in an elastically bent position while the item of modular furniture is in an assembled configuration. The tab and slot provides increased stiffness and rigidity to the piece of furniture while allowing the piece of furniture to be assembled without fasteners such as screws or nails.

An joint is provided for modular furniture. The joint includes a locking tab which is held in a slot such that the tab cannot be moved out of a locking section of the slot without elastically bending the tabbed panel to prevent inadvertent disassembly of the item of furniture. The tab and slot configuration may also provide increased stiffness and rigidity to the piece of furniture while allowing the piece of furniture to be assembled without fasteners such as screws or nails.

An improved joint is provided for modular furniture. The joint includes a dowel and slot. The dowel is held in the slot tightly to provide stiffness to the joint. The dowel may include a flanged head which is bent elastically by the slot when the dowel is fully inserted into the slot. The head of the dowel may be maintained in a bent configuration when the joint is in assembled configuration.

A modular shelving unit includes a plurality of shelves supported by supports. Non-linear attachment pins are attached to the top of a lower shelf and received in upper supports which support an upper shelf. The attachment pins are bent so that they are wider than holes in the upper supports; bending the attachment pins elastically and maintaining them elastically bent when the shelving unit is in an assembled state.

A joint for modular furniture includes a first panel joined to a second panel with a slot and a tab. The slot and tab are formed with complementary faces which are angled to prevent delamination of anisotropic materials such as plywood.

A modular shelving system includes a wall panel with slots and shelf brackets with tabs which attach to the wall panel slots. The tabs have upwardly sloping surfaces which engage sloped surfaces on the back side of the slots. These mating surfaces better retain the tabs into the slots and provide a higher degree of strength in the tab and slot joint. This allows the shelving system to be made with smaller tabs and thinner material than previously possible; providing a more secure and visually appealing shelving system.

An article of modular furniture such as a drawer, case, cabinet, or table is provided. The article of furniture uses a first panel with a dovetail tab and a straight tab and a second panel with a dovetail slot and a straight slot. The first panel is flexed in order to insert the dovetail tab and the straight tab into the respective dovetail slot and straight slot and is then un-flexed to complete the assembly.

A stackable wooden crate that can be assembled and disassembled without tools, and stored flat is provided. The crate may include: two sides with box joint tabs, two sides with matching box joint recesses, a bottom, and a lid. The sides may come together at box joints held together with strap binding that stretches tight when the sides are folded 90 degrees to each other. A modified strap binding on one corner of the box is held tight via a tensioner buckle. The bottom is held captive by the four sides. The lid rests between four tabs that extend upward out of all four sides. When the lid is removed, multiple crates can be stacked, the upper crate held in place by the lower crate's four tabs which interface with recesses on the bottom of the upper crate.

The modular furniture also provides increased attractiveness and user customization while using a limited number of different components.

A waste container for disposing sanitary waste, such as soiled diapers, comprises a canister having a storage space, an opening at an upper end and a bottom at a lower end. A retainer frame is pivotally attached to the canister and has an aperture for inserting a trash bag through the aperture and folding an upper edge of the trash bag over the retainer frame. A retainer is pivotally attached to the canister and has a rim that inserts into the aperture of the retainer frame to retain the trash bag. A lid having a hole which aligns with the aperture of the retainer frame is pivotally attached to the canister for allowing the lid to pivot between a closed position covering the opening and an open position. A slid door is coupled to the lid and is slidable between a closed position and an open position.

The fatigue reduction device includes a frame configured to receive a handle substantially perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the frame. A user-faceable portion of the frame is inwardly concave to conform to an arm of a user.
