A sewage tank for use with a pump such as a grinder pump to convey sewage. The sewage tank includes a container comprising a sidewall, and a plurality of members connectable and attachable around an outer surface of the sidewall of the container operable for use in providing additional ballast under high ground water conditions.

A sewage tank for use with a pump such as a grinder pump to convey sewage. The sewage tank includes a container having an upper portion and a lower tapering portion defining a chamber for containing the pump. The lower tapering portion has a reduced size compared to the upper portion. The upper portion and the lower portion may include a plurality of intersecting vertical ribs and horizontal ribs defining a plurality of recessed pockets. The lower portion of the sewage tank may also include an outwardly-extending flange sufficiently sized so that soil may be backfilled around the bottom of the tank to prevent the tank from floating upward out of the ground due to its buoyancy under high ground water conditions. The sewage tank may also include a stepped flange.

A liquid level sensing assembly employs an inductive or magnetic coupling to wirelessly communicate a plurality of signals based on a changing level of wastewater in a tank to a first coil of a pump/alarm control circuit in the grinder pump. The assembly includes at least one liquid level sensor operable in response to the changing level of the wastewater, a second coil positionable adjacent to the first coil in the grinder pump, and a transponder for extracting electrical energy using the second coil in response to the first coil. The transponder is operably connected to the at least one liquid level sensor and operable to wirelessly transmit from the second coil to the first coil the plurality of signals based on the state of the at least one liquid level sensor due to the changing level of the wastewater in the tank.

Disclosed are methods and apparatus for monitoring a plurality of grinder pumps, and in particular, remotely over a communications network. Aspects of the invention include an alarm panel having a modular configuration, a modem board which allows use of a single telephone line and use by the homeowner in an emergency, the transmission of data over a high voltage AC line, and recharging of a sensing tube for measuring the level of wastewater in a tank.

Apparatus and method for monitoring sewer system operation

A grinder pump includes a pump assembly, a grinder mechanism, and a motor disposed between the grinder mechanism and the pump assembly. A shaft of the motor is operably attached at one end thereof to the grinder mechanism and at the other end thereof to the pump assembly. This arrangement enables providing smaller radial clearances between the cutting portions of the grinder mechanism. Vortex-type impeller vanes can be associated with a grinding head of the grinder mechanism to assist flow of effluent from the grinder mechanism to the pump assembly via a passageway extending about, and/or in parallel with, a motor mounting unit.

A grinder pump station is capable of having its height adjusted in the field during installation, and includes a substantially cylindrical inner wall having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface of the inner wall defines a cavity for insertion and mounting of a grinder pump therein. In addition to the substantially cylindrical inner wall, there is a substantially cylindrical outer wall having an inner surface and outer surface, wherein the outer wall has a diameter greater than the inner wall. For increasing the structural integrity of the grinder pump station, a plurality of rigid members extend between the substantially cylindrical inner wall and the substantially cylindrical outer wall, each of the plurality of rigid members being affixed to the inner wall and each of the plurality of rigid members being engaged to the inner surface of the outer wall. A base disposed is located adjacent to a lower portion of the inner and outer walls. The grinder pump station may include a plurality of rigid members that define a central corrugated wall. The central corrugated wall may further comprise a plurality of alternating crests and troughs, wherein each of the crests are engaged to the inner surface of the outer wall and each of the troughs are affixed to the outer surface of the inner wall.

Grinder pump station

A grinder pump station capable of having its height adjusted in the field during installation has a longitudinal tank having a substantially cylindrical non-corrugated inner wall secured to a substantially cylindrical corrugated outer wall, a separate transition section for mounting a grinder pump unit within the longitudinal tank, a removable lid assembly attached to the top of the longitudinal tank, and a base attached to the bottom of the tank. A grinder pump unit may be mounted inside of the tank. The removable lid assembly includes an electrical and ventilation interface for the grinder pump unit mounted in the tank, thereby facilitating adjustment of the height of the tank through variation in its longitudinal extent without interference with the electrical and ventilation interface. The transition section separates an upper tank portion from a lower tank portion, preferably has a non-corrugated side wall, and includes a sewage inlet opening and a sewage outlet opening through its side wall.

Grinder pump station and method of manufacture thereof

An integral, readily installed, universal pump assembly has an integral, liquid-tight outer housing for supporting within a single liquid-tight containment vessel an electric motor driven pump, and discharging liquid from a discharge outlet of the pump. The assembly includes at least one normal high and low liquid level sensing control pneumatic pressure operated electric switch supported within the housing for deriving on-off switching control signals for controlling normal on-off operation of the pump. At least one liquid level sensing diving bell is supported on the housing and has at least one lower open end exposed to the liquid in the collection tank for deriving varying pressure pneumatic liquid level indicating signals for application to the pressure operated switch for deriving the on-off control signal. A dynamically operated liquid level safety cutoff valve is provided within the sensing diving bell for cutting off leakage of liquid into the normal on-off control switch upon the liquid level in the sensing diving bell exceeding a predetermined level. A second liquid level sensing diving bell and pressure operated control switch may be added for deriving a high liquid level alarm output signal. The housing contains a single, closed, liquid-tight chamber in which both the pneumatic pressure operated on-off control switch and a high liquid level alarm pressure operated, control switch

Readily installed universal sewage grinder pump

A narrow accessway sewage pump remotely operable, multi-part, quick connect/disconnect slide coupling comprising a fixed portion that forms a first part of a slide-together, bayonet-type coupling with a movable portion forming a second part of the coupling. The movable part of the coupling supports a liquid pump and slides together with and is physically supported by the fixed portion. A third slide stop valve portion is positioned intermediate both the fixed and movable portions and all three portions of the coupling have interiorly formed open passageways for passage of liquid therethrough. The passageways in the three portions all come into alignment upon the three portions being properly seated together in assembled relation. The three portions have complementary sealing surfaces formed thereon which come together automatically to form a liquid pressure-tight seal around the aligned interior liquid passageways through the three portions upon all the portions being slid into and properly seated in assembled relation within the fixed portion. The intermediate slide valve portion further includes a discharge outlet slide stop valve structure which normally is out of alignment with the interior open passageways through the assembled fixed and movable portions of the slide coupling with the slide coupling in the open position but which is closed over the interior aligned passageways with the slide coupling in the closed position.
