A composition includes (a) a hydrocarbon fluid comprising less than 1000 ppm by weight of aromatics, a weight ratio normal paraffins/isoparaffins ranging from 0.2 to 1.0 and having an initial boiling point and a final boiling point in the range from 265° C. to 380° C., and (b) a copolymer derived from alpha-olefin monomers and vinyl acetate type monomers and optionally acrylate type monomers.

Hydrocarbon fluid having improved cold temperature properties

The invention is a fluid having a kinematic viscosity from 3 to 6 mm/s, a flash point of higher than 120° C. and a pour point lower than −40° C., having a boiling point in the range of from 200° C. to 400° C. and a boiling range below 80° C., said fluid comprising more than 95% isoparaffins and less than 3% of naphthens by weight, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm aromatics by weight. The invention is also a drilling fluid and the use of the fluid to improve the viscosity of the drilling fluid.

Use of biodegradable hydrocarbon fluids as drilling fluids

The invention relates to the use, as a liquid phase heat-transfer medium, of a fluid having a boiling point in the range of from 200&#xb0; C. to 400&#xb0; C. and a boiling range below 80&#xb0; C., said fluid comprising more than 95% by weight isoparaffins and less than 3% by weight of naphthens, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm by weight aromatics.

Use of biodegradable hydrocarbon fluids as heat-transfer media

The invention provides for a fluid having a boiling point in the range of from 100 to 400&#xb0; C. and comprising more than 95% isoparaffins and containing less than 100 ppm aromatics, obtainable by the process comprising the step of catalytically hydrogenating a feed comprising more than 95% by weight of a hydrodeoxygenated isomerized hydrocarbon biomass feedstock, at a temperature from 80 to 180&#xb0; C. and at a pressure from 50 to 160 bars. The invention also provides for a fluid having a boiling point in the range of from 100 to 400&#xb0; C. and a boiling range below 80&#xb0; C., said fluid comprising more than 95% isoparaffins and less than 3% of naphthens by weight and having a ratio of isoparaffins to n-paraffins of at least 12:1, a biodegradability at 28 days of at least 60%, as measured according to the OECD 306 standard, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, and containing less than 100 ppm aromatics by weight. The invention finally provides for uses of the fluid.

Method of providing drilling fluid and solvent

The invention is the use, as oil for aluminium and aluminium alloys cold rolling, of a fluid having a boiling point in the range of from 200&#xb0; C. to 400&#xb0; C. and a boiling range below 80&#xb0; C., said fluid comprising more than 95% by weight isoparaffins and less than 3% by weight of naphthens, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm by weight aromatics.

The invention also provides for a fluid having a boiling point in the range of from 100 to 400&#xb0; C. and a boiling range below 80&#xb0; C., said fluid comprising more than 95% isoparaffins and less than 3% of naphthens by weight and having a ratio of iso-paraffins to n-paraffins of at least 12:1, a biodegradability at 28 days of at least 60%, as measured according to the OECD 306 standard, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm aromatics by weight, and comprising carbon expressed as CH3 sat less than 30%.
