In accordance with some embodiments, a method is performed at a first device with one or more processors, non-transitory memory, and a display. The method includes displaying, on the display, a device control transfer affordance while operating the first device based on user input from an input device that is in communication with the first device. The method includes receiving a device control transfer user input from the input device selecting the device control transfer affordance that is displayed on the display of the first device. In response to receiving the device control transfer user input, the method includes configuring a second device to be operated based on user input from the input device and ceasing to operate the first device based on user input from the input device.

Device, method, and graphical user interface for controlling multiple devices in an accessibility mode

The present disclosure generally relates to methods and devices for providing touch accommodations to users with tremors or other fine motor impairments to improve the accuracy of such users' touch inputs on touch-sensitive surfaces. Such methods and devices include various approaches for compensating for brief, inadvertent touch inputs; touch inputs with inadvertent motion across the touch-sensitive surface; and/or touch inputs with inadvertent recoil contacts. In some embodiments, the touch accommodations are implemented in a software layer separate from the application layer, such as the operating system.

Touch accommodation options

Systems and processes for scanning a user interface are disclosed. One process can include scanning multiple elements within a user interface by highlighting the elements. The process can further include receiving a selection while one of the elements is highlighted and performing an action on the element that was highlighted when the selection was received. The action can include scanning the contents of the selected element or performing an action associated with the selected element. The process can be used to navigate an array of application icons, a menu of options, a standard desktop or laptop operating system interface, or the like. The process can also be used to perform gestures on a touch-sensitive device or mouse and track pad gestures (e.g., flick, tap, or freehand gestures).

Interface scanning for disabled users

An electronic device displays a user interface that includes a plurality of affordances including a first affordance. The first affordance is selectable to perform a respective operation. The first affordance is displayed at a first size. The device receives a user input at a location corresponding to the first affordance. In response to receiving the user input and in accordance with a determination that a text display setting has a first value, the device displays an overlay that includes an enlarged representation of the first affordance. The enlarged representation of the first affordance has a second size that is bigger than the first size. In response to receiving the user input and in accordance with a determination that the text display setting has a second value that is different from the first value, the device forgoes display of the enlarged representation of the first affordance.

Device, method, and graphical user interface for improving visibility of affordances

Systems and processes are disclosed for initiating and controlling content speaking on touch-sensitive devices. A gesture can be detected on a touchscreen for causing text to be spoken. Displayed content can be analyzed, and a determination can be made based on size, position, and other attributes as to which portion of displayed text should be spoken. In response to detecting the gesture, the identified portion of text can be spoken using a text-to-speech process. A menu of controls can be displayed for controlling the speaking. The menu can automatically be hidden and a persistent virtual button can be displayed that can remain available on the touchscreen despite the user navigating to another view. Selecting the persistent virtual button can restore the full menu of controls, thereby allowing the user to continue to control the speaking even after navigating away from the content being spoken.

Instantaneous speaking of content on touch devices

In accordance with some embodiments, a method is performed at a device, coupled to a display, with one or more processors and non-transitory memory. The method includes displaying, on the display, a plurality of user interface objects. The method includes detecting a selection input while a first user interface object of the plurality of user interface objects has accessibility focus. In response to detecting the selection user input, the method includes displaying, on the display, an accessibility menu for the first user interface object including one or more selectable options for interacting with the first user interface object and a selectable option for displaying a virtual remote. The method includes detecting a virtual remote activation input while the selectable option for displaying the virtual remote has accessibility focus. In response to detecting the virtual remote activation input, the method includes displaying, on the display, a virtual remote including a plurality of virtual remote user interface objects.
