A method for controlling a driving assistance feature of a vehicle is disclosed. The method comprises determining a state of a driver of the vehicle by means of a driver monitoring system (DMS) the state of the driver comprising at least one attention parameter, and comparing the determined state of the driver with a predefined attention model. The predefined attention model comprises an independent threshold range for each attention parameter. The method further comprises controlling the driving assistance feature based on the comparison between the determined state of the driver and the predefined attention model.

Safety mechanism for assuring driver engagement during autonomous drive

A method for controlling vehicle system of a vehicle is disclosed. The method comprises determining an expected path of the vehicle, determining a vehicle trajectory for the determined expected path, and determining at least one required control parameter value of a driver assistance system based on the determined vehicle trajectory. Further, the method comprises comparing the at least one required control parameter value to a predefined threshold scheme associated with the driver assistance system, and sending a signal to a Human Machine Interface, HMI, of the vehicle based on the comparison. Then, the method comprises receiving a feedback signal originating from a user of the vehicle, and controlling the driver assistance system based on the comparison and the received feedback signal.

Described herein is a method and system for assisting a driver of a vehicle () to drive with precaution. Vehicle environment monitoring sensors () determines other road users and particular features associated with a traffic situation of the vehicle () and hypotheses are applied related to hypothetical threats that may arise based thereupon. A driver level of attention, required to handle the hypothetical threats, and a time until that level will be required is estimated. A current driver level of attention is derived, from driver-monitoring sensors (). Method and system for assisting drivers to drive with precaution

Disclosed is an arrangement and a method for mitigating a forward collision between a host vehicle, having sensors for monitoring a road ahead and wheel brakes, and an oncoming vehicle. The sensors are utilized to estimate parameters of an oncoming vehicle. The estimated parameters are utilized to predict a future path of the oncoming vehicle, and host vehicle parameters are utilized to predict a future path of the host vehicle. The predicted future paths are assessed to determine if a forward collision is likely unavoidable assuming full freedom for performing avoidance maneuvers for both vehicles. The wheel brakes are controlled to reduce a relative longitudinal velocity between the vehicles at a predicted collision instant if determined that a forward collision is likely unavoidable at a determined relative longitudinal velocity above a first threshold.

Arrangement and method for mitigating a forward collision between road vehicles

A method performed by a boundary estimation system for estimating a boundary of a road on which a vehicle is positioned and which comprises at least a first lane marking. The system monitors surroundings of the vehicle, detects one or more positions of the at least first lane marking, and approximates a geometrical representation of the at least first lane marking based on one or more of the detected positions of the at least first lane marking. A method is provided for intelligent scaling of torque overlay intervention for a semi-autonomous steering system in a road vehicle having a semi-autonomous steering function arranged to selectively apply a steering wheel overlay torque. If decided that a driver is significantly overriding an intervention, the overlay torque is scaled by a scaling factor being a function of applied steering wheel torque. If decided that the driver has been significantly overriding the intervention for more than a pre-determined first time period, the scaling factor is set to its lowest possible value for a specific driving situation. An arrangement and a method are described for safeguarding driver attentiveness to the task of steering while operating a vehicle having a lane keeping aid system. The arrangement and method provide for measuring a pinion angle and a torsion bar torque when the lane keeping aid system is applying an overlaying steering torque. Driver applied torque is estimated from the measurements. A hands-off metric is calculated based on a relation between the measurements and the estimate. Hands-off is determined based on a comparison of the metric with a predefined threshold. The arrangement and method further provide for evaluating hands-on between torque interventions by the lane keeping aid system. An action is determined based on the determined hands-off and the evaluated hands-on and the action determined performed.

A system for collision course prediction includes a host vehicle sensor system detecting information relating to a target object including a position and a velocity relative to the host vehicle; a time-to-collision estimator control block calculating an estimated time-to-collision based on a longitudinal distance, longitudinal velocity and longitudinal acceleration of the target object relative to the host vehicle; a lateral distance estimator control block, which estimates the lateral distance between the centers of the host vehicle and target object at the estimated time-to-collision; and a collision course condition determination unit determining, at a determination instant prior to the estimated time-to-collision, a probability that the host vehicle will collide with the target object dependent at least in part upon whether the lateral distance is within a first interval, the first interval based on at least a lateral width of the host vehicle and a lateral width of the target object.
