A dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic composition is provided which comprises a polymer blend of (a) a thermoplastic olefinic resin, such as non-elastomeric ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer; (b) an elastomeric ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer having a relatively higher vinyl acetate content; and (c) a specified elastomeric copolymer, such as halobutyl rubber, EPDM, or a halogenated copolymer of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.7 isomonoolefin and a para-alkylstyrene. Halogenated polyethylene may also be incorporated in the composition. The dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic composition is suitable for adhesion to polyvinyl chloride.

The invention relates to certain low friction abrasion resistant polymer coatings. The polymer coatings consist of thermoplastic materials based on blends of elastomers with high density polyethylene comprising a high molecular weight component. The appropriate balance of crystallinity, durability and flexibility can be achieved by selecting the proper amount of low, medium and high molecular weight high density polyethylene. The coating is particularly useful for weatherstripping material for automobile window channels.

A composite film composition comprising a rubber containing core layer wherein the layer comprises about 50 to 85 wt % rubber and 15 to 40 wt % of a polyolefin and at least one polyolefin skin layer co-extruded onto said core layer. In a preferred embodiment, the core layer comprises about 55 to about 70 wt % PIB and about 30 to about 45 wt % of PP or RCPP having been co-extruded to be sandwiched between two polyolefin layers comprisng PP or RCPP.

Nonvulcanized, thermoplastic elastomeric compositions useful in high quality, low voltage insulation. The compositions comprise polyolefin plastics blended with a copolymer of ethylene and an unsaturated ester of a lower carboxylic acid, olefinic elastomer and mineral filler and/or carbon black filler, and, optionally, hydrocarbon oil. Preferably the filler is alumina trihydrate which results in a flame-retardant insulation useful in building and communication wire.

Compositions of matter comprising a thermoplastic elastomeric blend of a polyolefin component, an isobutylene-backbone elastomer component, and a copolymer component of ethylene and an unsaturated ester of a lower carboxylic acid. Useful in the preparation of film, molded and extruded articles. The incorporation of an ethylene copolymer component, such as ethylene vinyl acetate, ethylene methyl acrylate, etc., results in compositions with the advantages of elastomer modified polyolefin blends, but which exhibit lower melt viscosity and improved processability.
