A vehicle passenger is provided with a console for mounting an entertainment apparatus, the console being coupled to the back of a more forwardly located seat by headrest retaining clips of the kind adapted to hold posts of a height adjustable headrest for the seat at a height selected position. In one arrangement, the console is sandwiched between the headrest retaining clips and the top of the seat back. In an alternative arrangement, the console incorporates integral headrest retaining clips that replace the conventional headrest retaining clips.

Console

A vehicle entertainment system includes a headphones device and a vehicle headrest. The headphones device includes a first speaker disposed in a first speaker housing, a second speaker disposed in a second speaker housing, and a headband connecting the first speaker housing to the second speaker housing. The vehicle headrest includes a recessed channel shaped and dimensioned to receive the headband, the first speaker housing, and the second speaker housing.

Vehicle entertainment system

A vehicle entertainment system is adapted to be mounted to a vehicle. It has a mounting bracket adapted for coupling to a dashboard of a vehicle, a vehicle seat, its headrest if present, or mounting posts for such a headrest, or into an arm-rest for a vehicle seat. A mounting arm is mounted for rotation relative to the mounting bracket about a main axis arranged in use to extend generally horizontally. A monitor unit has a front side and a rear side. The monitor unit has at least one structure enabling access to entertainment for a user. The structure may be at least one of a monitor screen on the front side, controls for an audio system on the front side, controls for an audio system on the rear side, and a slot adapted for a tablet computer to dock therein both physically and electronically with the screen of the tablet computer exposed on the rear side. The monitor unit is mounted to the mounting arm for rotation with the mounting arm about the main axis for adjustment of the angle of presentation of its front or rear side to suit a user. The monitor unit is coupled to the mounting arm by a pivot defining a pivot axis extending substantially at 45&#xb0; to the main axis for rotation of the monitor unit relative to the mounting arm about this pivot axis. As a result, a user may select between presentation to the user of at least one of a monitor screen on the front side, controls for an audio system on the front side, controls for an audio system on the rear side, when present, and the screen of a tablet computer docked in the slot on the rear side of the monitor unit when present, in each case in a selected one of portrait and landscape modes.

An entertainment apparatus for a passenger of a vehicle is provided with a casing having a top edge region, a bottom edge region and two respective side edge regions interconnecting the top and bottom edge regions. The four such edge regions frame and define a front side of the entertainment apparatus, the front side being provided with a monitor screen. The apparatus plays optically-readable discs, and is provided with an opening in the bottom edge region of its casing for receiving and ejecting optically-readable discs in a generally vertical plane. The apparatus is adapted to be mounted to a more forward seat of a vehicle for use by a passenger when seated behind the more forward seat of the vehicle.
