An antenna-filter array module and method of manufacturing an antenna-filter array module are provided. One method of manufacturing includes bonding a low temperature co-fired ceramic, LTCC, tile having a plurality of antennas and corresponding filters to a first side of the module PCB via a first set of solder balls, a coefficient of thermal expansion, CTE, of the module PCB being within a predetermined amount of a CTE of the radio PCB. The method further includes cutting the LTCC tile into a plurality of reliability units after the bonding, each reliability unit having a size that is less than a predetermined largest reliable size.

MmWAVE antenna-filter module

According to one aspect, an integrated antenna and filter unit, IAFU, is provided. The IAFU includes a filter portion including at least one filter configured to filter RF signals to generate filtered RF signals and a plurality of filter pins configured to output filtered RF signals, and an antenna portion securable to the filter portion where the antenna portion includes a PCB including a plurality of conductor traces each mateable with a corresponding one of the plurality of filter pins to electrically couple the plurality of filter pins directly to corresponding ones of the plurality of conductor traces on the PCB, and a plurality of antennas securable to the PCB where the plurality of antennas are electrically coupled to the plurality of conductor traces.

Integrated antenna and filter unit (IAFU) for 5th generation advanced antenna system (AAS) systems

A filter and array of filters providing inductive coupling are disclosed. According to one aspect, an RF filter includes a plurality of dielectric layers with a first ground plane on one side of the dielectric layers and a second ground plane on an opposite side of the dielectric layers. One of the first and second ground planes provides an input port and one of the first and second ground planes provides an output port. Two parallel strip line resonators, lie in a first plane parallel to, and between, the first and second ground planes, the two parallel strip line resonators, having a gap there between. An inductive coupling plate in proximity to the gap, is grounded at an edge and lies in a second plane, the second plane parallel to the first plane and lying between the first plane and one of the first and second ground planes.

Miniature filter design for antenna systems

A composite electronic device comprises a ceramic waveguide, CWG, device having at least two input/output, I/O, ports; and a ceramic stripline, CS, device comprising at least one stripline transmission paths having at least two I/O ports. The CS device is affixed to the CWG device such that at least one of the I/O ports of the CWG device is electrically connected to a corresponding one I/O port of the CS device.

Ceramic waveguide filter

A multiband radio () is presented that includes front-end architecture that can produce a substantial size/weight/cost reduction on the necessary air cavity multiband receive filter design of existing multiband radio (). In particular, the disclosure presents a multiband radio () configured to filter a set of sub-bands of a multiband uplink signal. In an aspect, the multiband radio () includes one or more wideband filters () configured to filter any group of two or more adjacent sub-bands in a frequency spectrum utilized by the multiband radio () for communication with one or more user equipment (UE). In addition, the multiband radio () includes a multiplexer () configured to isolate each of the uplink sub-bands using separate filters (). Furthermore, the multiband radio () includes a plurality of single sub-band filters (), each of the plurality of single sub-band filters () configured to filter a different isolated uplink sub-band in the frequency spectrum.

Front-end architecture of multiband radio

A method and a band reject filter (BRF) using as acoustic resonators at least one of bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators and film bulk acoustic resonators (FBAR) are provided. The BRF includes at least one substrate having at least one of a plurality of capacitors formed thereon, the plurality of capacitors having capacitances selected to achieve a particular band reject response. The BRF also includes at least one die. At least one of a plurality of acoustic wave resonators are formed thereon. The plurality of acoustic wave resonators are one of BAW resonators and FBARs and are designed to have the same resonant frequency. A plurality of conductors between the substrate and the die are positioned to electrically connect the acoustic wave resonators and the capacitors.

Band reject filters

A tunable filter using acoustic resonators is disclosed. A tunable filter includes a plurality of tunable resonator units (). Each tunable resonator unit () has acoustic wave resonators (). Each acoustic wave resonator is associated with a different tunable frequency. Each tunable resonator unit also has a first switch () configured to select one of the plurality of acoustic wave resonators of the tunable resonator unit at a time. The first switches of the plurality of tunable resonator units are coupled to cooperatively select one acoustic wave resonator in each one of the plurality of tunable resonator units, where a selected acoustic wave resonator in a tunable resonator unit of the plurality of tunable acoustic resonator units is associated with a same tunable frequency response as the other selected acoustic resonators of the others of the plurality of tunable acoustic resonator units. The selection results in an overall tunable frequency response.

Miniature tunable filters

Duplexers for high power applications are disclosed. In some embodiments, a duplexer includes 2N band pass filters, where N is an integer greater than 1. The 2N band pass filters each have an input and an output and are in an electrically parallel configuration. The duplexer includes a first adaptation circuit configured to couple a transmit signal received from a transmitter to each one of the 2N band pass filters. The duplexer includes a second adaptation circuit configured to couple outputs of the 2N band pass filters to an antenna, the second adaptation circuit providing an isolated path between the antenna and a receiver.

A transceiver arrangement comprises a receiver arranged for frequency-division duplex communication; a transmitter arranged for frequency-division duplex communication; a transmission port for connecting to an antenna; a balancing impedance circuit arranged to provide an impedance arranged to mimic the impedance at the transmission port; and a filtering arrangement, which comprises filters of a first type and filters of a second type, connecting the receiver, transmitter, transmission port and balancing impedance circuit. The filters of the first type are arranged to pass signals at transmitter frequency and attenuate signals at receiver frequency and are connected between the transmitter and the transmission port and between the receiver and the balancing impedance circuit. The filters of the second type are arranged to attenuate signals at transmitter frequency and pass signals at receiver frequency and are connected between the transmitter and the balancing impedance circuit and between the receiver and the transmission port. A communication device is also disclosed.

Transceiver arrangement and communication device

A multi-band transmitter circuit may include a multi-port network configured to divide an input multi-band signal comprising signal components at each of a plurality of frequency bands into a plurality of output multi-band signals. The multi-band transmitter circuit may also include a plurality of band-specific circulator paths. Each band-specific circulator path includes a circulator configured to receive the respective output multi-band signal and operate at a respective one of the frequency bands to provide a respective band-specific signal. The multi-band transmitter circuit further includes a filter circuit that includes a plurality of band-specific filter elements. Each band-specific filter element is coupled to a corresponding circulator and configured to receive the respective band-specific signal and operate at the same frequency band as the corresponding circulator to provide a filtered band-specific signal for transmission.

Multiband transmitter circuit with integrated circulators and filters

A multi-band RF multiplexer for routing transmit and receive signals in a radio RF front end. According to one aspect, the disclosure provides a multiplexer for routing transmit signals to an antenna and routing receive signals to a receiver. The multiplexer provides a first hybrid coupler having a first frequency response and a second hybrid coupler having a second frequency response. The second hybrid coupler is coupled to the first hybrid coupler by a plurality of splitters. The second frequency response complements the first frequency response to increase cancellation of two signals arriving at an output port of the second hybrid coupler from two different paths through the first and second hybrid couplers.
