In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for early termination of multi-user enhanced distributed channel access parameter application for one or more stations or devices. In various implementations, referred to as un-solicited or solicited termination, the multi-user enhanced distributed channel access timeout period may be terminated early by an access point device, or by a non-access point station or device, respectively.

A wireless communication system for minimum allocation includes an access point (AP) and a number of stations (STAs) communicating with the AP via a network such as a wireless local area network. The AP can identify an STA to which a trigger frame is to be sent by the AP. The AP further determines the amount of resources to be provided by the AP to the identified STA through the trigger frame. The AP can also determine a frequency of sending the trigger frame to the STA. The resources can include a frequency allocation, a time duration and a modulation coding scheme. The time duration is a maximum receive (RX) physical-layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) duration.

Minimum allocation signaling

In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for extending a range of wireless communication. In one aspect, a first station device from one or more stations receives a trigger frame comprising a predetermined bit from an access point. The first station device may transmit to the access point a first response message in a first format during a first time period, in response to detecting the predetermined bit in the trigger frame. The first station device may transmit to the access point, a second response message in a second format during a second time period, in response to detecting the predetermined bit in the trigger frame. The first station device may receive, from the access point, a downlink frame during a third time period after the first time period and the second time period.

Range extension of wireless communication device

A communication device configured to generate a clear-to-send (CTS)-Announcement frame and to transmit the CTS-Announcement frame to one or more other communication devices. The CTS-Announcement frame can include an organizationally unique identifier (OUI) and a portion of network interface controller (NIC) identifier, and announcement information of the device's activities and/or state.

A technique to provide a protection mechanism, when operating over a plurality of channels in one's own BSS, to help avoid components in other BSSs from interfering or generating contention conflicts to those channels during its own communication. In one embodiment, a channel reservation signal, such as a Clear-To-Send-To-Self frame, is broadcast across each of a plurality of channels in order to reserve the plurality of wireless channels for a predetermined period of time. A broadcast or multicast frame may then be transmitted during the predetermined time utilizing one or more of the reserved wireless channels.

Full bandwidth protection mechanism for co-existence of single/multi-channel wide-bandwidth wireless systems

Systems and methods are provided for dynamically/during operation, adapting transmission power in a wireless communication device. The adapting of transmit power in a wireless communication device can be performed on a per-packet, as well as a per-link basis. Before determining to adapt transmit power, various conditions, configurations, and or operational information can be analyzed. That is, the quality of service associated with a link, the stability of the link, as well as, e.g., the stability of a current transmit rate being utilized can be considered, such that the user experience, e.g., throughput, need not be negatively affected in order to implement power savings by lowering transmit power.

Transmission power adaptation for wireless communication

A system and method of throughput-based transmission rate adaptation for wireless transmissions is provided. An adapted transmission rate is determined based on transmission feedback from previous wireless frame transmissions. The adapted transmission rate is determined by comparing nominal throughputs derived from packet success rate (PSR) estimates at the current rate and other rates, such that the adapted transmission rate chosen is one that maximizes the nominal throughput. The PSR estimates can include those associated with the current rate, a fallback rate, and other rates. The PSR estimates are updated after each frame transmission. The PSR estimates can be saved and used for calculating future estimates, and they can also be time-stamped so as not to use them if they are older than a predetermined age.
