Disclosed herein are non-aqueous compositions including: a flowable Part A including at least one resin and Reactant A; and a flowable Part B including at least one resin and Reactant B; wherein at least one of flowable Part A and flowable Part B further includes a free radically polymerizable resin; wherein at least one of flowable Part A and flowable Part B further includes a free radical initiator system; wherein flowable Part A and flowable Part B are capable of being mixed to provide a flowable mixed composition; wherein when flowable Part A and flowable Part B are mixed, Reactant A and Reactant B are capable of interacting to cause a non-free radical reaction within a first staging time to provide a first staged stable consistency for the mixed composition; wherein Reactant A comprises an acid and Reactant B comprises a base, and upon mixing flowable Part A and flowable Part B, the Reactant A acid is capable of reacting with the Reactant B base in an ionic acid-base reaction; and wherein the mixed composition having the first staged stable consistency is capable of forming a hardened dental composition upon initiation of free radical polymerization.

Methods and kits for removing calculus from a tooth, wherein the method can include applying a component A to the tooth, wherein component A comprises a hydrogen peroxide or a precursor thereto; applying a component B to the tooth, wherein component B comprises a non-enzymatic, hydrogen peroxide decomposition catalyst for generating oxygen gas; wherein components A and B are applied simultaneously or sequentially to the tooth, thereby generating oxygen gas to soften and/or loosen at least part of the calculus on the tooth; and removing at least a part of the calculus from the tooth.

Dental compositions are described comprising an addition-fragmentation agent comprising at least one ethylenically unsaturated terminal group and a backbone unit comprising an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-unsaturated carbonyl; at least one monomer comprising at least two ethylenically unsaturated group; and inorganic oxide filler. The addition-fragmentation agent is preferably free-radically cleavable. The addition-fragmentation agent preferably comprises at least two ethylenically unsaturated terminal groups, such as (meth)acTylate groups. Also described are dental articles prepared from a dental composition comprising an addition-fragmentation agent and methods of treating a tooth surface. 

Hardenable compositions are described comprising at least one multifunctional ethylenically unsaturated isocyanurate monomer and at least one multifunctional ethylenically unsaturated tricyclodecane monomer. In favored embodiments, the compositions further comprise filler and are suitable dental restorations.

Antireflective films are described having a surface layer comprising a the reaction product of a polymerizable low refractive index composition comprising at least one free-radically polymerizable fluoropolymer and surface modified inorganic nanoparticles. A high refractive index layer is coupled to the low refractive index layer. In one embodiment, the high refractive index layer comprises surface modified inorganic nanoparticles dispersed in a crosslinked organic material. The antireflective film is preferably durable, exhibiting a haze of less than 1.0% after 25 wipes with steel wool using a 3.2 cm mandrel and a mass of 1000 grams.

Antireflective films are described having a surface layer comprising a the reaction product of a polymerizable low refractive index composition comprising at least one fluorinated free-radically polymerizable material and surface modified inorganic nanoparticles. In one embodiment, the high refractive index layer comprises surface modified inorganic nanoparticles dispersed in a crosslinked organic material. A fluoropolymer coating composition contains a homogeneous mixture of crystalline submicron fluoropolymer particles dispersed in a solvent-borne solution of less crystalline or amorphous fluororesin. The composition may be prepared by blending a latex containing crystalline submicron fluoropolymer particles with a latex containing less crystalline or amorphous fluororesin particles, coagulating and drying the blended latices, and dissolving the dried blend in a solvent for the fluororesin particles. Quasi-homogenous compositions may be prepared by blending dry crystalline submicron fluoropolymer particles with a) dry less crystalline or amorphous fluororesin particles and a solvent for the fluororesin particles, or b) a solvent-borne solution of less crystalline or amorphous fluororesin. Rubbing the disclosed coatings can provide a thin, continuous or nearly continuous fluoropolymer surface layer atop a less crystalline or amorphous fluororesin binder containing crystalline submicron fluoropolymer particles.

The low refractive index layer comprises the reaction product of a composition comprising at least one free-radically polymerizable material having a high fluorine content, and at least one free-radically polymerizable fluoropolyether urethane material.

A low refractive index composition that forms a low refractive index layer on an optical display is formed having a co-crosslinked interpenetrating polymer network of a fluoropolymer phase and an acrylate phase. The fluoropolymer phase is preferably formed from fluoropolymers based on THV or FKM and having either a degree of unsaturation and/or containing a reactive cure site monomer in its polymer backbone. The acrylate phase includes a multifunctional acrylate crosslinker, and more preferably includes a perfluoropolyether acrylate crosslinker. The formed low refractive index layer has improved interfacial adhesion to other layers or substrates contained in the optical display. Further, the mechanical strength and scratch resistance of the either of above low refractive index compositions can be further enhanced through the incorporation of surface functionalized inorganic particle into the formed layer.

Low refractive index fluoropolymer compositions having improved coating and durability properties

An economic, optically transmissive, stain and ink repellent, durable low refractive index fluoropolymer composition for use in an antireflection film or coupled to an optical display. In one aspect of the invention, the composition is formed from the reaction product of a fluoropolymer and a fluoroalkyl containing multi-olefinic crosslinker. In another aspect of the invention, the composition further includes surface modified inorganic nanoparticles.
