The present disclosure provides a system and a method for controlling a motion of a robot from a starting point to a target point within a bounded space with a floorplan including one or multiple obstacles. The method includes solving for an electric potential in a bounded virtual space formed by scaling the floorplan of the bounded space with the one or multiple obstacles and applying charge to at least one bound of the bounded virtual space while treating the scaled obstacles as metallic surfaces with a constant potential value, wherein the electric potential provides multiple equipotential curves within the bounded virtual space. The method further includes selecting an equipotential curve with a potential value different from a potential value of an obstacle equipotential curve, determining a motion path based on the selected equipotential curve, and controlling the motion of the robot based on the determined motion path.

The field free region generator generates a field free line with a direction of linear extension of a field free region as a direction of extension. The present disclosure provides a system and a method for detecting a fault of an operation of a synchronous motor. The method includes collecting an electrical input and measurements associated with the operation of the synchronous motor caused by the electrical input. The method further includes determining sequences of points defining a mutual position between a stator and a rotor of the synchronous motor that results in magnetostatic determined as a weighted summation over real-space basis functions parameterized on pairs of adjoint points in the determined sequence of points and weighted with a surface charge density between corresponding adjoint points, such that the resulted magnetostatic explains the measurements of the operation of the synchronous motor given the electrical input. Further, the method includes determining the fault of the operation of the synchronous motor based on the mutual position between the stator and the rotor of the synchronous motor.

A system for controlling an operation of an induction motor (IM). A controller processor detects a spectrum of a current signal from received sensor data using a module. Obtain a number of rotor bars and a number of pole pairs of the IM to identify a principle slot harmonics (PSH) type IM from stored IM data. Use the PSH-type IM to identify a static eccentricity (SE) fault signature signal located at a secondary PSH frequency of the PSH-type IM. Determine a level of signal strength in the spectrum of the current signal at a location of the secondary PSH frequency, and compare to a SE fault table database to obtain a SE fault level of the PSH-type IM. Compare the SE fault level to a database to obtain a SE fault threshold, and if the SE fault level is outside the SE threshold, generate an interrupt command to the controller.

Method for static eccentricity fault detection of induction motors

A system for thermal management of an electric motor, uses an augmented thermal circuit model of the electric motor, which relates temperatures of a set of nodes of the thermal circuit model with the temperature measurements at a first subset of nodes and heat losses of heat sources at a second subset of nodes, for joint estimation of the temperatures at the entire set of nodes and values of the heat losses in the second subset of nodes. The system solves the joint estimation using an estimator/observer. The system outputs one or combination of the values of the temperatures of the set of nodes and the values of the heat losses.

System and method for estimating temperature and heat loss in electric motors

A system for estimating a severity of a bearing fault in an induction motor, uses a set of filters and a set of quantitative models designed for a set of fault frequencies. The system, upon receiving the measurements of the stator current, extracts the first fault current from the stator current using the first filter, determine the first mutual inductance variation from the first fault current using the first quantitative model, and classify the first mutual inductance variation with the fault severity classifier to determine the severity of a first type of fault in the induction motor. Similarly, the system classifies a second type of fault using the second filter and the second quantitative model. The system outputs one or combination of the severity of the first type of fault in the induction motor and the severity of the second type of fault in the induction motor.

Method for estimating bearing fault severity for induction motors

A frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW)-based system includes an emitter to transmit at least one linearly modulated wave of radiation to a scene and a receiver to receive a reflection of the transmitted wave from one or multiple objects located at different locations in the scene. The system interferes a copy of the wave outputted by the emitter with the reflection of the transmitted wave received by the receiver to produce a beat signal with spectrum peaks corresponding to reflections from the different locations at the scene. The beat signal is distorted due to the non-linearity of the modulation. The system includes a processor to detect a number of spectrum peaks in the distorted beat signal and, only in response to detecting multiple spectrum peaks, jointly determine coefficients of a basis function approximating the non-linearity of the modulation and distances to the different locations at the scene having the objects causing the reflection resulting in the spectrum peaks in the distorted beat signal.
