An optoelectronic device separation apparatus may include a first and second clamp members configured to grip coaxial portions of an optoelectronic device. In one embodiment, the clamp members grip a housing portion and a fiber pigtail portion, respectively. The clamp members are configured to rotate relative to each other about an axis that is generally coaxial with the axis of the coaxial portions of the optoelectronic device. A force may be applied to the clamp members to provide such rotation, thereby causing the coaxial portions of the optoelectronic device to separate, for example, along weld points coupling the portions of the optoelectronic device together. Of course, many alternatives, variations and modifications are possible without departing from this embodiment.

Coaxial optoelectronic device separation apparatus and method

A laser module having a laser optically coupled with an optical fiber via a collimating lens and a focusing lens is formed. The laser is mounted in a laser housing so that its laser light output is directed toward a laser housing wall opening in a laser housing wall of the laser housing. A lens-fiber housing having a lens installed in a first end thereof and a light-receiving input end of the fiber disposed in a bore at a second end thereof is provided. The lens and input end of the fiber form a collimator. The lens-fiber housing is mounted from the outside of the laser housing to the laser housing wall to receive collimated light transmitted from inside the laser housing through the laser housing wall opening. The collimating lens is actively aligned in the laser housing, between the laser and the laser housing wall opening, to determine an aligned position. The collimating lens is secured in the laser housing at the aligned position.

Method and apparatus for coupling a laser to a fiber in a two-lens laser system

An assembly for improved alignment of a laser for generating laser light with an optical fiber having an end section terminating in a light-receiving end. A laser housing has a base and substantially cylindrical housing walls mounted at a bottom portion to the base. The laser can be mounted on the base. The substantially cylindrical internal surface of the cylindrical housing walls have internal threads at a top portion. The internal threads have a minor diameter and a major diameter. An annular ferrule housing has a substantially cylindrical through-hole with an inner diameter sufficient to receive a fiber ferrule which has the end section of the fiber disposed therein. The ferrule housing further has an axially tapered external surface having external threads which are threadably compatible with the internal threads. The major diameter of the external threads decreases monotonically from a first major diameter at a top portion of the external surface to a comparatively smaller second major diameter at a bottom portion of the external surface. The first major diameter of the external threads is larger, and the second major diameter of the external threads is smaller, than the minor diameter of the internal threads.

Assembly with tapered, threaded ferrule housing for improved alignment of fiber with laser

A lens-fiber alignment housing for passively aligning an optical fiber with a lens, for improved alignment of a laser with the fiber, via the lens. The fiber is disposed in a substantially cylindrical, annular ferrule, the bottom end of which is disposed in the first end of a ferrule sleeve. The housing has an upper cylindrical mating section at a first end for mating with the second end of the ferrule sleeve, and a bottom lens-receiving section for securely receiving and mounting a lens. The lens may be mounted into the lens-receiving section of the housing, so that, when the housing is inserted into the second end of the ferrule sleeve, the lens and fiber are automatically, passively aligned, thereby forming an aligned lens-fiber assembly that can be aligned with the laser in a single active alignment procedure.

Housing for passively aligning an optical fiber with a lens

Demounting workpieces attached to an adhesive surface of an adhesive film with a workpiece demounting apparatus having a base and a plurality of substantially parallel blades mounted to the base. Each of the blades has a substantially linear blade edge, each blade edge lying within a blade-edge plane that is substantially perpendicular to the blades. The spacing between the blades is small enough to support said workpieces and large enough to permit the adhesive film to pass between the blades after being cut by said blade edges during a workpiece demounting operation. The plurality of blade edges thus provides a substantially planar blade-edge surface, in the blade-edge plane, for cutting the adhesive film and for supporting the workpieces while the adhesive film is pulled free from said workpieces.
