A cost effective process is provided for making stable, efficacious, amino acid and polyhydric alcohol free concentrated aqueous aluminum zirconium salt solutions. Absence of amino acid, low iron content and low trace metal impurity levels improve compatibility with fragrances and minimizes the probability of the product color change and possibly fabric staining significantly. The novel aluminum zirconium actives also minimize iron contribution to underarm area that supports growth of microflora which is responsible for axillary malodour by the biotransformation of nonodorous precursors present in perspiration. The astringent complexes of the present invention may be obtained in solution or dry powder form. As a result, the complexes are satisfactory for use in any of wide variety of conventional antiperspirant forms.

Fragrance friendly and cost effective antiperspirant actives and method of making the same

The composition contains: an antiinflammatory effective amount of piroxicam; an amount of tetrahydroxypropylethylenediamine sufficient to solubilize the piroxicam in the composition; an amount of C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene glycol, or mixture thereof, sufficient to detackify the composition and provide humectancy; about 0.2% to about 2% carbomer; about 30% to about 60% C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkanol; and water qs to 100%. Hydroxypropylcellulose can be added to the composition.

Topical anti-inflammatory compositions containing piroxicam

The invention provides stable, substantially anhydrous, transparent, gelled, antiperspirant sticks which are substantially free of lower monohydroxy alcohols, contain dibenzylmonsorbitol acetal as a gelling agent and are stabilized by the presence of a weakly basic, organic, nitrogen containing, stabilizing compound soluble in the composition employed to produce the stick.

The invention provides stable, substantially anhydrous, transparent, gelled cosmetic compositions useful for the preparation of deodorant and antiperspirant sticks which are substantially free of lower, aliphatic, monohydroxy alcohols. A clear cosmetic gel stick composition consisting essentially of from about 60 to about 90% of an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having from 2 to 6 carbons and from 2 to 6 hydroxyl groups; from about 3 to about 8% soap; from about 1 to about 7% of a water-soluble emollient that is polyoxyalkylene ether of a fatty alcohol, the alcohol moiety having from about 8 to about 22 carbons and the number of alkylene glycol ether units having an average value of at least about 20; from about 1 to about 5% of a water-dispersible emollient that is a polyoxyethylene ether of a branched chain fatty alcohol, the fatty alcohol moiety having from about 8 to about 22 carbons and the average number of ethylene glycol ether units being from 1 to about 6, and from about 10 to about 20% water.
