An air conditioner is provided. A control unit of an outdoor unit of the air conditioner is divided into a plurality of blocks according to a set of rules. Then, the blocks are mounted on different substrates. Therefore, it is possible to simplify wiring, facilitating the interconnection of the blocks and enable the control unit to be managed in units of the blocks. In addition, it is possible to improve user convenience.

The present invention relates to a motor controller of an air conditioner, including a converter for converting a commercial AC power into a DC power, an inverter including a plurality of switching elements, the inverter receiving the DC power, converting the DC power into an AC power through a switching operation and driving a three-phase motor, a gate driver for controlling the switching operation of the switching elements, and a plurality of voltage drop units connected between the converter and the gate driver, the voltage drop units dropping the DC power and supplying driving voltages for an operation of the switching elements. Accordingly, circuit elements within a controller can be protected.

Motor controller of air conditioner

The present invention relates to a motor controller for an air conditioner and a motor control method. The motor controller including a converter converting AC utility power into DC power and an inverter having a plurality of switching elements, the inverter receiving the DC power, converting the received DC power into AC power by switching operations of the switching elements, and supplies the AC power to a motor, the motor controller further including: a current detector detecting a current flowing in the motor controller; a temperature detector detecting a temperature in the motor controller or a temperature ambient to the motor controller; and a controller calculating a loading based on at least one of room temperature, setup temperature, and inner unit capacity and setting up a final target frequency for driving the motor based on the calculated loading and at least one of the detected current and the detected temperature. The motor controller for the air conditioner and the motor control method determines a target frequency considering a current and a temperature, to reduce power consumption and protect circuit elements.

Motor controller of air conditioner and method of the motor controller

The present invention relates to a motor controller of an air conditioner, including an inverter including a plurality of switching elements and adapted to convert a DC voltage, input through switching operations of the switching elements, into an AC voltage and supply the converted voltage to a motor, a power calculation unit that calculates electric power applied to the motor, an angle calculation unit that calculates an optimal phase angle of a current command value based on the calculated electric power; and a microcomputer that outputs a switching control signal to control the switching elements of the inverter based on the optimal phase angle.

The present invention relates to a motor controller for air conditioner including a converter having at least one switching element for converter, the converter converting AC utility power into DC power by a switching operation of the switching element; an inverter having at least one switching element for inverter, the inverter converting the DC power into prescribed AC power by a switching operation of the switching element and driving a three-phase motor; a microcomputer outputting a converter switching control signal that controls the switching element for converter; and a dc terminal signal generator detecting a dc terminal voltage that is applied across an dc terminal of the converter to sequentially generate a pulse type dc terminal signal, and insulating the dc terminal from the microcomputer. The present invention may sequentially generate a dc terminal signal and simultaneously insulate the dc terminal from the microcomputer, thus making it possible to improve the stability of the motor controller.

The present invention relates a motor controller and a motor control method of controlling a motor having a stator coil and a rotator. The motor controller includes: an activating operator receiving an operation command with a prescribed target frequency while the motor remains stationary, activating the motor at a prescribed voltage and a voltage phase, and then gradually increasing an operation frequency of the motor; an operation exchanger switching an activation operation into a normal operation when the operation frequency reaches a prescribed frequency lower than the target frequency; an evaluator evaluating a location of the rotor included in the motor and the operation frequency based on a current or voltage detected from the motor; a normal operator operating the motor in a normal manner based on the evaluated rotor location; an error determiner determining during the normal operation whether there is an error on the motor based on at least one of the detected current, the detected voltage, and the evaluated operation frequency; and an operation controller enabling the motor to stop in a case where it is determined that there is an error on the motor. The motor controller and the motor control method determine failure of location detection in a sensor-less manner and enable the motor to be stably stopped according to such a determination.
