Exemplary subpixel structures include a directional light-emitting diode structure characterized by a full-width-half-maximum (FWHM) of emitted light having a divergence angle of less than or about 10°. The subpixel structure further includes a lens positioned a first distance from the light-emitting diode structure, where the lens is shaped to focus the emitted light from the light-emitting diode structure. The subpixel structure still further includes a patterned light absorption barrier positioned a second distance from the lens. The patterned light absorption barrier defines an opening in the barrier, and the focal point of the light focused by the lens is positioned within the opening. The subpixels structures may be incorporated into a pixel structure, and pixel structures may be incorporated into a display that is free of a polarizer layer.

Polarizer-free LED displays

The present disclosure is generally related to 3D imaging capable OLED displays. A light field display comprises an array of 3D light field pixels, each of which comprises an array of corrugated OLED pixels, a metasurface layer disposed adjacent to the array of 3D light field pixels, and a plurality of median layers disposed between the metasurface layer and the corrugated OLED pixels. Each of the corrugated OLED pixels comprises primary or non-primary color subpixels, and produces a different view of an image through the median layers to the metasurface to form a 3D image. The corrugated OLED pixels combined with a cavity effect reduce a divergence of emitted light to enable effective beam direction manipulation by the metasurface. The metasurface having a higher refractive index and a smaller filling factor enables the deflection and direction of the emitted light from the corrugated OLED pixels to be well controlled.

OLED light field architectures

The present invention discloses a general, highly effective and scalable extraction-enhancing OLED display pixel structure based on embedding the OLED inside a three-dimensional reflective concave structure selectively filled with a high-index filler material. Such a structure is able to couple as much as possible internally generated photons into the filler region and then redirect otherwise confined light for out-coupling via the reflective concave structure. Ultimately high light extraction efficiency approaching &#x2dc;80% and excellent viewing characteristics are simultaneously achievable with optimized structures using highly transparent top electrodes. This scheme is scalable and wavelength insensitive, and thus can be generally applied to all red, green, and blue pixel OLEDs in high-resolution full-color displays.

Electroluminescent device and display pixel structure using the same

An electroluminescent (EL) device is disclosed. An optically reflective concave structure includes a first surface and a second surface that lies at an angle relative to the first surface, wherein at least the first and second surfaces are optically reflective. One or more functional layers include a light emitting layer, disposed over the surfaces of the optically reflective concave structure, wherein at least one electroluminescent area of the light emitting layer is defined on the first surface. Especially, the ratio between the diameter of the first surface and the thickness of the one or more functional layers in the optically reflective concave structure is smaller than a constant value.

Electroluminescent devices with improved optical out-coupling efficiencies

An electroluminescent (EL) device is disclosed, comprising a high-index layer, having a first refractive index more than 1.8; a first electrode, which is transparent and disposed adjacent to the high-index layer; one or more functional layers, disposed adjacent to the first electrode and opposite to the high-index layer, including a light emitting layer; and, a second electrode, disposed adjacent to the one or more functional layers and opposite to the first electrode; wherein the first electrode has a second refractive index less than 1.7.

The present invention relates to compounds of the formula (1), to the use thereof in electroluminescent devices, and particularly organic electroluminescence devices, comprising said compounds according to the invention. 

Spiroacridine-triazine hybrids and applications for electroluminescent devices

An electroluminescent (EL) device is disclosed, comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, one or more functional layers, and a conducting layer. The first electrode is transparent and with a high refractive index nmore than 1.75. The one or more functional layers include a light emitting layer. The conducting layer has a low refractive index nless than 1.65, being disposed between the first electrode and the one or more functional layers. By judicious combination of the first electrode and conducting layer to induce appropriate microcavity effects, increased coupling efficiencies of EL device could be then obtained.

An electroluminescent (EL) device is disclosed, comprising a nanostructured composite electrode, one or more functional layers and an top electrode. The nanostructured composite electrode is consisting essentially of a first layer having a nanostructure and a second layer disposed on the nanostructure. The first and second layers are transparent and conducting, and one of the refractive-indexes of the first and second layers is lower than or equal to 1.65, and the other of the refractive-indexes of the first and second layers is higher than or equal to 1.75. One or more functional layers including a light emitting layer is disposed on the second layer. The top electrode is disposed on the functional layers. Especially, each of feature pits and each of intervals between the feature pits of the nanostructure of the first layer is smaller than or equal to a major wavelength of light emitted from the light emitting layer.

Electroluminescent devices with improved optical out-coupling and external quantum efficiencies

The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for synthesis of bridged-hydropentacene, hydroanthracene and hydrotetracene from the precursor compounds pentacene derivatives, tetracene derivatives, and anthracene derivatives. The invention further relates to methods and systems for forming thin films for use in electrically conductive assemblies, such as semiconductors or photovoltaic devices.

Synthesis and applications of soluble pentacene precursors and related compounds

One embodiment relates to a computer-implemented process of content fingerprinting. A context and a content for fingerprinting are received. The context comprises a set of context components for use in generation of content fingerprints. The content includes instances of at least some of the context components. The content is processed to generate context offset sequences, and a fingerprint for the content is formed from at least a portion of the context offset sequences. Another embodiment relates to a computer-implemented process for comparing a target content against a pool of contents. The process includes constructing an automata data structure based on the fingerprints in the pool. Context offset sequences of a target fingerprint are scanned against the automata data structure to determine matched offset subsequences. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

The present invention discloses organometallic complexes with transition metal elements and their application in fabrication of a variety of light-emitting devices. The mentioned organometallic complexes can serve as emitting material or dopant for blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices with excellent performance. The mentioned organometallic complexes have a general formula as the following:  Wherein M represents a transition metal element, and Qand Qrespectively represent an atomic group forming a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring as a five member ring, a six member ring, or a seven member ring.

Blue-emitting organometallic complexes and their application

The present invention discloses synthesis of 2,2'-disubstituted 9,9&#x2032;-spirobifluorene-based triaryldiamine. First, 2,2&#x2032;-diamino-9,9&#x2032;-spirobifluorene, a Pd-catalyst as auxiliary and aryl halide BX are provided, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of: Cl, Br and I, B comprises one of the following group: aryl moiety, hetero cycle, multiple fused ring, multiple fused ring with hetero atom(s). Next, a substitution reaction is performed to react the 2,2&#x2032;-diamino-9,9&#x2032;-spirobifluorene with the aryl halide BX to produce the 2,2&#x2032;-disubstituted 9,9&#x2032;-spirobifluorene-based triaryldiamines. In addition, the present invention discloses organic light emitting devices comprising hole transporting material comprising 2,2&#x2032;-bis(N,N-disubstituted amino)-9,9&#x2032;-spirobifluorenes.

An organic light emitting diode is provided. The organic light emitting diode includes a substrate, an electrode structure formed on said substrate, an organic layer formed on said electrode structure and a transparent electrode structure having at least one transparent dielectric layer with a relatively higher refraction index and deposited on said organic layer by thermal evaporation.

A reconfigurable organic light-emitting device and a display apparatus employing the organic light-emitting device, wherein the reconfigurable organic light-emitting device includes at least two organic light-emitting layers and at least one high-energy-gap carrier-blocking layer. The at least one high-energy-gap carrier-blocking layer is formed between the organic light-emitting layers. The structure of the reconfigurable organic light-emitting device can be reconfigured through heating, and the reconfigurable organic light-emitting device may thus emit light characteristic of one layer of the at least two organic light-emitting layers, after a bias voltage is applied on the upper electrode and the lower electrode of the reconfigurable organic light-emitting device. The heating may be performed with a built-in resistive heating source, an external heating source or a light-beam. By employing the reconfigurable organic light-emitting device, a fixed-pattern, passive-matrix, or active-matrix display apparatus of multi-color or full-color may further be fabricated.
