Device and a method for immobilization of proteins, enzymes or cells

A fishing reel employs a driving mechanism having a cooperative pinion gear and a face gear. The face gear has a tooth form with a cross-section wherein the cross-section of the inner pitch portion is less than the cross-section of an outer pitch portion. The pinion gear effectively engages the inner pitch portion less than an outer pitch portion to provide a more uniform distribution of torque and to improve the wearing rate of the gear mechanism.

Fishing reel and drive mechanism therefor

The invention compensates or normalizes for the non-linear oscillation speed of the spool in a fishing reel through use of a special shaped guide slot. The guide slot can be shaped through combining a number of curves into the length of the slot. In particular, for each end of the guide slot there is contained a curvature section, such that both ends of the guide slot are curving toward the spool side in one design or away from the spool in the other design. This general shape of the guide slot improves the contact position between the pole and the level wind bracket, and also compensates for the non-linear speed of the spool. The shape of the guide slot also reduces the wobbling or jiggling that occurs during operation of the reel when compared to conventionally designed reels.

Oscillation mechanism for fishing reel

The invention involves a holding mechanism located between and pivoting at two points, the first point at the rotor, and the second point at a location found on the primary bracket. In addition, the invention allows for the holding mechanism and the trip mechanism to be efficiently positioned on the primary bracket side of the rotor such that there are only a limited number of components remaining on the other side of the rotor, thus allowing for the rotor to be designed into a more complex shape, with a lighter weight and with a better balancing. The seizing or binding force during release of the bail wire mechanism is also reduced, since the bail wire, or other extended feature does not separate the holding and release mechanisms. In addition, the holding mechanism being pivotable between the two pivot points provides a smoother and more trip responsive fishing mechanism.

Trip mechanism for fishing reel

An oscillation mechanism for a fishing reel utilizing an improved level wind bracket having a shaft mount positioned such that the overall width of a fishing reel incorporating the invention is reduced. The oscillation mechanism also reduces the juggling force which occurs during operation of a fishing reel.

A guiding mechanism for a fishing reel utilizing rolling elements of various forms to reduce friction and resistance in moving parts of a fishing reel. The rolling elements are generally affixed to the level wind bracket of a fishing reel to allow efficient oscillation of the shaft.

Guiding mechanism for a fishing reel

A switchable anti-reverse mechanism for a fishing reel having an inner assembly which is fixedly mounted to the pinion of the fishing reel. The front end portion of the inner assembly is mounted to the rotor of the fishing reel. An outer assembly includes a housing having a plurality of slots and a cylindrical member having an opening extending coaxially with the pinion axis. The inner assembly is positioned within the opening of the outer assembly. The anti-reverse mechanism also includes means for allowing relative rotation around the pinion axis between the inner and outer assemblies in the line-winding direction and preventing relative rotation between the inner and outer assemblies in a reverse direction which is opposite to the line-winding direction. A plunger is movable along the plunger axis from a lock position to an unlock position, the plunger axis being parallel to the pinion axis. At least a portion of the plunger is disposed within a slot of the outer assembly when the plunger is in the lock position and no portion of the plunger is disposed within a slot of the outer assembly when the plunger is in the unlock position. An actuator is engaged with the plunger for selectively moving the plunger between the lock position and the unlock position.
