Devices and systems can be used to treating spinal conditions. For example, this document describes artificial facet joint systems that can be implanted to treat spinal conditions while facilitating normal stability and motions of the spine. Such systems and methods can be used to treat spinal conditions such as, but not limited to, spondylosis, vertebral fractures, and the like.

Systems and methods for monitoring a mechanical force applied to a wound site repairing structure are disclosed. In an embodiment, the systems include a wound site repairing structure, a magnetoelastic sensor coupled to the wound site repairing structure, and a detection system. The detection system includes an excitation coil configured to transmit a signal to the magnetoelastic sensor and a detection coil configured to detect a signal indicative of a mechanical force applied to the wound site repairing structure. The detection system also includes a detection unit configured to detect the signal indicative of the mechanical force applied to the wound repairing structure.

Speed of a shear wave induced in the tissue of the subject and propagating through the CT region is measured at least once. Tendon or ligament tissue engineering

A system and method is provided for using dynamic ultrasonic imaging to analyze a subject's carpal tunnel and generate risk factors indicative of the health of the subject's subsynovial connective tissue and the subject's risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome. The system and method uses speckle imaging techniques to track dynamic structures within the carpal tunnel and statistical analysis techniques to compare the properties of these dynamic structures of the subject to those of normal subjects and subjects having carpal tunnel syndrome.

System and method for analyzing carpal tunnel using ultrasound imaging

This disclosure describes methods for detecting early stages of disease, in particular carpal tunnel syndrome, by using cooperative ultrasound techniques. In a particular embodiment, a grayscale ultrasonogram may be used to detect local anatomical features within the carpal tunnel by physically moving a tendon and identifying the corresponding feature on the ultrasonogram display device. A high-resolution color Doppler ultrasound device may then be used to interrogate features of anatomy surrounding the tendon for disease. In a particular embodiment, the color Doppler ultrasound device may be used to measure the velocities of the tendon and surrounding anatomy, in particular the sub-synovial connective tissue; the resultant data may be used to quantify certain anatomical anomalies, indicative or non-indicative of carpal tunnel syndrome.
