A connection system for connecting gas delivery components of a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure system includes a first conduit with a first lumen forming a first part of a gas flow path for the breathable gas and a second conduit with a second lumen forming a second part of the gas flow path. The ends of each flexible connector include a magnets. The first and second flexible connectors are configured to be joined together to form a sealed connection by way of moving the first and second flexible connectors toward each other in an axial direction and are configured to be held together by a magnetic force between the first and second magnets. In addition, the first and second flexible connectors are configured to be separated from each other by pivoting the first and second connectors relative to each other.

Connectors for connecting components of a breathing apparatus

A gas delivery component of a CPAP system is configured to magnetically connect to a second gas delivery component of the CPAP system to deliver a pressurized flow of breathable gas to a patient's airways. The gas delivery component includes a lumen forming a first part of a gas flow path for the breathable gas. A connection end of the gas delivery component is configured to engage the second gas delivery component. In addition, a magnetic connection assembly is located at the connection end and includes a magnet positioned at least partially within the lumen. The magnetic connection assembly is configured to magnetically secure the gas delivery component to the second gas delivery component.

Methods and apparatus provide Cheyne-Stokes respiration ('CSR') detection based on a blood gas measurements such as oximetry. In some embodiments, a duration, such as a mean duration of contiguous periods of changing saturation or re-saturation occurring in an epoch taken from a processed oximetry signal, is determined. An occurrence of CSR may be detected from a comparison of the duration and a threshold derived to differentiate saturation changes due to CSR respiration and saturation changes due to obstructive sleep apnea. The threshold may be a discriminant function derived as a classifier by an automated training method. The discriminant function may be further implemented to characterize the epoch for CSR based on a frequency analysis of the oximetry data. Distance from the discriminant function may be utilized to generate probability values for the CSR detection.

Discrimination of cheyne-stokes breathing patterns by use of oximetry signals

A breathing apparatus includes components, including, but not limited to, a flow generator, a patient interface, and a delivery conduit. A connector for connecting components of the breathing apparatus includes a male connector, including a recess, extending from a first component, and a female connector, including a lever pivotally connected thereto, extending from a second component. A switch indicates a connection state of the connector. The switch includes a ring provided in an end of the first or second component and the ring includes a projection extending through an aperture in the end of the first or second component. The projection is movable between a first position and a second position to indicate the state of the connector.
