A timing method and communication apparatus therefor. The timing method, performed by a mobile communication device, includes: activating a first communication module; receiving updated information when the first communication module is active; determining and setting an expiry time for an adaptive timer based on the updated information; activating the adaptive timer to count to the determined expiry time; and activating a second communication module when the adaptive timer expires.

A method for handling packet-switched data transmissions by a mobile station with a first subscriber identity card coupled to a first radio frequency (RF) module and a second subscriber identity card coupled to a second RF module, executed by an adapter of the mobile station, is provided. The mobile originated request is issued to a called party via the preferred subscriber identity card when the preference setting has been enabled.

A system for providing a remote subscriber identity card to a mobile station is provided. The system includes a subscriber identity card, a Bluetooth module and a controller. The Bluetooth module establishes a Bluetooth connection to the mobile station. The controller accesses the subscriber identity card to obtain identity information and provides the obtained information to the mobile station via the Bluetooth connection such that the mobile station camps on a cell according to the obtained information.

A communication apparatus is provided. A first subscriber identity card camps on a first cell belonging to a first wireless network capable of providing a conference communication service for the first subscriber identity card with at most N peer communication entities via a first radio transceiver module. A second subscriber identity card camps on a second cell belonging to a second wireless network via a second radio transceiver module. A processor builds a conference communication for the first subscriber identity card with at most (N&#x2212;1) peer communication entities via the first cell, receives an add request to add a new peer communication entity to the conference communication, adds the second subscriber identity card to the conference communication via the first cell, and adds the new peer communication entity to the conference communication via the second cell.
